Hmmm.
Anyway, I recall several dev streams where Joel and Jens-Erik said repeatedly that there will NEVER be lootboxes in Conan Exiles. Something has obviously changed and I wonder – I just wonder – what that is.

If they can be influenced by other survival games (building), why cant they take ideas on hownto do landcliam, decay, and multi-pvp battles (Battle arenas)???

It may not seem like your preconceived notion of it, but that statement doesn’t hold true against the books.
Magic is a lot more prevalent in the universe than you’d think. If you don’t want to use it, that’s fine. I think you’re forgetting that since it is run off corruption you lose out on some max health and stamina. If you want to keep your health and stamina, by all means.
That’s an incredibly bold statement to make going off next to no information. How can you form an opinion like that without even having tried the update or seen more than a few minutes of trailer shots?
First of all, low vs high fantasy wasn’t a thing until tolkein. Stop doing this. And even if we use this newer categorization for the hyborian age, it actually fits both. Even wikipedia knows that’s a hokey claim.
As for the 50 altars, whats stopping you from making 50 altars already in the game? Summoning 50 gods at once? I don’t think they’d make something like this cheap enough and unbalanced enough to summon fifty demons at once.

Then choose not to be one. When they say power demands sacrifice, just don’t sacrifice. I think everyone is forgetting that corruption takes away your max health and stamina. You will be weaker in combat as a sorcerer. This is how it’s done in the books, and this makes this as true to that as possible
TOS doesn’t apply in singleplayer. Do not bring this up again on my thread. Just because we have undead horses coming doesn’t mean you can beat them too.
Who said loot boxes? Where are these loot boxes? I think you’re conflating MTXs and manufacturing outrage again

Self control and ensuring all players on the server are having fun. Spam building is why the ToS was set up in the first place. But I digress, having all of those t3 alters is a problem as I suspect these sorcery ones would as well.

A loot box or lootbox is any “RNG with a dopamine pop.” This is defined by Lead Dev (at the time) Oscar. Further, any CSGO player will define Battle Pass items (that have RNG) as lootboxes. Therefore it’s a mixed bag of both things. I’m sure you can understand – you buy a thing, then hold the “F” key on it until it appears! Like winning at a scratch-off. Is Conan Exiles a scratch off?
Both of these items are harmful to players. Most excellent gameplayers and designers agree, no outrage requested.

I haven’t seen anything RNG based. We will know more in two days. In the meantime, I would like to again point to my OP where I ask everyone to refrain from jumping to conclusions and manufacturing a worst case scenario preemptively when we have nothing to go off yet.
I think the best definition of the update is “Sorcery is the missing half of the definition of the genre defined by Conan: Sword and Sorcery”
And the more I watch the trailer, the more I notice.
Did you see the thunder striking a person spell? Seens not all magic is subtle, or maybe that thunder was from the gods/priests, seens like the caster is off screen.
Someone wrote about events, the eggs sucking souls of the dead and hatching creatures is one such event.
I wonder if the undead and other special mounts will be as simple as the ones we have now to craft or will require a certain grind of say 100 thrall sacrifices and 500 obsidian shards (and maybe the death of a lv20 horse) to summon.

Don’t compare what you’re doing to what I do. I’ve spent months gathering information, and building up a collection of citations and supporting evidence to my speculation. I’ve always held this standard, since the beginning; if you want to claim something have something to back it up. Jumping to conclusions like it’s parkour isn’t speculation, it’s fearmongering. You’re conjuring up some inane fear of something that was not shown off that you’re paranoid might exist. This is how misinformation spreads like wildfire and any semblance of normal discussion is derailed and taken over by people chanting the same wrong thing over and over

I didn’t acquire these titles, notoriety and popularity by just playing along. I speak the truth when it needs to be said. I will again point to what I’ve enumerated: this method of proceeding with the game is against the very thing they promised.

I’m not sure that anyone “owns” any threat here (except mabye Funcom).
If you move into the realm of public discussion, prepare to face other opinions and even opinions about what and how to discuss.
One can ask not to discuss off-topic. But… “ownership” is a bit too much “get off my lawn” style imho.

Hi again friends, we totally understand some of the concerns being brought up here, but I’d say things are getting heated, out of hand, and derailed.
I’d like to ask for folks to please migrate those concerns to this thread: Battle pass feedback which is specifically about the BP where you can air/vent your worries.
As a general reminder, please refrain from personal attacks as well as making statements or accusations without basis or the complete picture. Please also keep in mind that the trailer, while certainly informative, was still only a summary and that you may be forming a vision with incomplete information.
Like, I’m certainly not trying to dismiss the concerns being brought up here; we’re reading over comments from all corners of the internet and will work to acknowledge and answer what we can when our livestream, still planned for 2022-06-21T15:00:00Z, airs. There’ll be plenty of time during the stream and after to yell at us if you still don’t like what you hear.
And finally, please remember this is a video game forum for a video game product where you can adjust the size of your junk. We’re here to play cool stuff and make cool stuff and, while I may be biased, I think there’s a lot of cool stuff in this update to look forward to. YMMV.
