Here’s my feedback on the most recent 4/23/24 hotfix after playing for about 3 hours (Xbox). This includes observations directly related to the scope of this hotfix as well as observations of other bugs and annoyances, some related, some not, some new, many old, that I hope can be addressed. But everything was observed in a matter of a couple of hours.
Overall sentiments:
- Unlike many others, I believe you can, and often should, work to improve things that are “not broken”. So, I approve of your efforts to try to improve QoL and UX despite the recent issues. In fact, I would love to see an “Age of Bug and QoL Fixes”.
- Unlike many others, I’m okay that you took a couple of weeks to release if that means you really put it thru the right QA process to ensure no other issues entered. Better later >> worse sooner.
- Like many others, I would love to see more focus and process put around automated testing and QA as a part of the Age of Bug and QoL fixes.
In scope for this hotfix:
- FIX: Run toggle now works - Thank you! Keybinding also seems to be working which was resetting on game restarts while I was working around this issue.
- FIX: Left stick and d-pad move between sections again.
- I actually liked the ability to move from top to bottom of my inventor by hitting up. I don’t miss the left and right movements as much because there are never more than 5 columns in a row. If there was a setting, I’d probably change it back to how you had it before this hotfix. But not a huge deal.
- FIX: Stacking works (more often)
- BUG: Still have intermittent inability to stack. When this happens, you have to resort before stacking. Hard to replicate but happens.
- BUG: Still occasionally unable to take the last item in hover menu. Work around is to open inventory directly. Can also open inventory, resort, and then take from hover menu.
- FIX: Splitting works (more often)
- BUG: If splitting, split items move to bottom of list. If navigating after splitting, things are resorted. But if exiting before navigating, it never resorts.
- BUG: If splitting, exiting, re-entering, and restacking, it does not always restack. Sometimes requires resorting or taking and putting items back to restack.
- BUG: Occasionally opening inventory of a crafting station and then using right stick to move to other window doesn’t work until you use the left stick first.
- BUG: Inventory hid a stack of iron while moving things between stations. Hard to replicate but happens after a lot of inventory management. Eventually reappears after more inventory management.
- BUG: Dropping items still drops wrong item when inventory is messed up.
- BUG: Still can’t refill water skin when inventory is messed up.
- BUG: Quick stack transfers wrong items (that are not in target) when inventory is messed up.
In scope for Age of War changes:
- BUG: Still loading inside foundations under transportation stone after transport. Probably still happens on login but didn’t for me yet.
- BUG: Still can’t take armor pieces from thrall without taking everything.
- BUG: Mass Cull still not gathering fiber, bugs, or seeds.
Out-of-scope but related to Inventory or QoL:
- BUG: Opening thrall inventory does not immediately show spoiled gruel. Instead you get inventory full message when trying to add something. Have to close and reopen to see spoiled gruel taking an extra spot. Should show on initial open.
- BUG: When using hover loot menu, cursor is not visible until using the d-pad. Usually when pressing d-pad right, it selects the first item but sometimes the second item. Inconsistency makes looting more difficult than it should be.
- BUG: Combat is still very difficult to aim on a controller. Seems to drift and needs constant correction (using auto face forward enabled).
- BUG: Viewing the Bazaar, can’t navigate to last item in a set of items to view.
- FEATURE REQ: Need option to collapse stacks - separate from sorting.
- FEATURE REQ: Crafting stations pull from random stacks. Needs to consistently pull from first or last stack so that full stacks are preserved as long as possible and it reduces the number of consumed slots. Thralls should also eat from consistent stack.
Out-of-scope and unrelated but observed within a short time:
- BUG: Thralls still hidden under parts of the mesh. Makes looting difficult or impossible.
- BUG: Frequently get stuck inside of NPC mesh (ex. Rhinos).
- BUG: Terrain loading inside of base when first loading or teleporting.
- BUG: Floating thralls.
- BUG: Loot all from legendary chests in silver mine only loots first weapon and drops everything else in a loot bag. Have to loot it too to get everything.
- BUG: Sometimes starting to craft an item will not do so. Workaround is to move left and right on d-pad a few times and try again.
- BUG: First batch of coal missing from Silver Mine on server 2505. Likely due to nearby base preventing spawn. Not base’s fault. But shouldn’t be an issue.
- PERF: Lagging and Rubber banding.
- FEATURE REQ (Decay):
- Items around base should decay at same rate as base. Example, animal pen is less when placed on ground even though it is 2 tiles away from base.
- Decay rate on official for bases should be 2 weeks so people can go on vacation.
- Decay rate of thralls should be the same as bases. There should be no thralls left hanging around when there is no base.
- FEATURE REQ: Should be able to queue up weapon or tool change instead of having to wait until current animation is over.
- FEATURE REQ: Make it easier to see which direction you are facing inside the teleportation stone bubble.
- FEATURE REQ: Should be able to put fur, layered fur, and layered silk into skinning container.
- FEATURE REQ: New containers should auto-close like large chests.
- FEATURE REQ: Be able to see hunger and thirst level when hovering over food or drink in containers so we know how much to eat or drink.
- FEATURE REQ: Ability to spin character using controller stick when modeling armor in Bazaar so you can see all angles.

That is pretty much what ch4 is. I hope we see 3 months of hotfixes.


I’m having issues with the old work around not working at some times, in some places, but haven’t put the effort in to researching it.
And buffs when selected.
