7 days decay timer? no way!

We’ve been playing on pve no conflict server #1025, with awesome constructions that everybody could enjoy through the world. Amazing castles, temples, you name it!
The decay timer was reset to 7 days, and all of a sudden most buildings just dissapeared.
A group can build different structures yet with a 7 day decay timer most times you need to run through all of them just to make sure next time you come they won’t be just dust and floating thralls. Just in case. Even after just a couple days.
you become paranoid with losing all your effort all of a sudden. building, materials, chests, armors…
Decay timers should be longer, or at least reset when the player logs in, all structures reset, not just when the player is near them.
Please make the decay timers longer!

and think, with login problems of these days, if a player is not able to reset the timer and therefore losing everything…

Well got to feel bad for those people whose 7 days were up yesterday or today and they go in some day when this current issue is fixed and low and behold again , everything is gone and btw Funcom wont fix it or help you in any way they will point to their rules of you are on your own we dont deal with those things, not our fault.

No, please don’t make the decay timers longer. You share the official servers with everyone else and if you can’t bother to be online at least once, but more importantly twice, in a week that is on you.

My fellow exile if you really need 2 days to walk around your bases just for refresh then you probably didn’t read this

No active players lost buildings. Decay worked as intended.

When you have 168 hours before your stuff decays. This doesn’t mean login once every 156 hours to refresh. Normal people understand that you don’t procrastinate like that. Stuff in RL happens so you want some leeway when it comes to refreshing.

In fact the 168 hour timer is meant to give that leeway. They don’t intend for you to login once a week. They intend for you to login once every 24-48 hours with a few day leeway in case you have to do something over a weekend or whatever.

This means if you only play once a week. You’re likely not playing enough. Evidenced by the fact that if you’re schedule your login to be only on the 6th day, and then get hemmed up for whatever reason, your stuff just decays.

And just to nip it in the bud, we all have lives. All of us. Some of us have more wives and husbands and children than you do and make it work. So don’t bother bringing that up. Its up to you to manage your priorities, not a server admin’s responsibility. Its on you to pick a server with settings that match your situation, not the admin’s responsibility to match yours.

Like it was said above, you share the server with others. It is not fair to them for your life to impose its restrictions on them when you take up space on the map that you don’t actually actively use.

We all have lives. We deal with our life issues. We don’t need to deal with yours too.

7 days means you never can go on vacations with your family (and yes at least in Europe its standard to have at least 7 days vaccation during winter, spring and autumn seasons and 14 to 21 days in summer). You can never get sick or have something important to attend to in your real life, else you are loosing your base. A base you might build on for a long time. Yes you share officials with others but that doesn´t automatically forbidds you to also live a life outside Conan.

why are you bothering about this? as soon as the server is restored, write to the support service and your progress will be rolled back before the servers fail, you will not lose anything.

There are plenty of options including the link to the post I shared that allows players to remotely log in to refresh. Everyone can leave and go on vacation without worry if they take the necessary steps.

There’s also single player and private servers.

The decay system is in place to deal with builds by owners that are not present.

These are only pixels. Yes it was time spent but ultimately if you spent the time creating a base then you should take the time to maintain its decay. Otherwise, remove it and allow others to benefit from its space.

You know why most games offer at least 14 days of decay time? Because its more realistic and more user friendly. Flexibility is what gamers nowadays want, because beeing flexible is key in our society and ours lives. Be it at work or at home.

And by the way: there are enough official servers out there to play on. No player relays on another player to leave the server to get its place. There are enough free building spots. Its just people every time want exactly the space that is already taken and then get mad and want the other player been gone.

So spend time with your family and not some silly video game. My brother hasn’t played an online game in 15 years. He’ll return once the kids are off to college.

I got sick for three weeks about a year ago, didn’t stop me from logging in on occasion and still maintain my duties as a server admin/tech. I’ve also had to login for something remotely not even 12 hours after a heart procedure 13 years ago (wasn’t a game related thing, but it is possible even after surgery if you REALLY need to). A little prep work goes a long way.

Thousands of players manage it just fine. As I said, everyone’s got families and responsibilities. And for those that literally take up all someone’s time, well you’ve got options such as non-decay servers.

Not even close, there are “dead” servers with serial refreshers taking up meta spots for the sake of it. I’ve got characters on most of the NA pvp servers and pay close attention.

Simply play or not. If you can’t bother to take the time then don’t complain. Most people have smart phones with data or wifi access and few minutes of time. That is all you need.

That’s not a reasonable workaround. Are you going to have your computer turned on at home for an entire vacation? A lot of people don’t play in large clans and this isn’t a part-time job. It’s a fun hobby people should be able to enjoy without losing everything if they take time off or there’s a server issue like there is now.

The secret is to keep track of the time left and use a repair hammer. If your stuff says decayed it’s free stuff for the other players.
