This Beta opportunity for me was a little like A Boy Named Sue: I knew I couldn’t be there to help it along, so I made other choices. Y’see, during the last 6 months I’m making the most consequential changes to our core business interfaces, and just don’t have the time to test with full vigor. Siptah taught me a hard lesson, that while it’s an honor to partake, it’s also a heavy burden when one feels as though he didn’t do as much as he could. That’s the reason I declared my happiness in your participation in the Beta, simply due to your workman dependability.

Therefore, you’ve had much greater access to the core game, in both time and insider info, say from the Dev Kit. I don’t know that you could look reasonable criticizing another player for the game’s apparent unscaled hardness.

By itself, leveling is different, and that’s totally fine. I’m on my 3rd new toon and it’s considerably more difficult to level, we’re talking about 35 hours for 40 levels. Enemies are tough, Sandstorm effs you up, life is rough. However, the dramatic difference in the necessary “bosses” is out of scale.

Well tbh, combat in this game never left the alpha state. Its clunky, bugged and by no mean finished (and most likely never be). I don’t think players play this for the combat itself. It really is the lowest point of the whole game.

Same situation here. I totally depend on thralls. Combat is not what I like about the game, and I love the feeling of commanding a strong soldier who protected me as I explore the Exile Lands. Apparently I’m the exception. Today I can’t even beat the boss spider, which I easily defeated with a level 20 thrall (Basically I just watched the thrall do the work).

If you prefer to just stay behind and have your thrall do the tanking and don’t wanna get in close and personal with things, maybe you could try an authority / archer build now?
Archery received a massive buff… to the point where you’re one-shotting most normal enemies. So you could simply have your thrall tank and just assist him with a bow to make sure things die faster.

Like I pointed out earlier, followers are still quite strong, you just have to pick the right ones and make sure their stats are in check, so they can still solo bosses, but even if that’s the case and while archery might be boring, I reckon it’s still more involving than just standing there and waiting around

Here, I made a short video for you in case you have any doubts just how OP bows got. I don’t know which spider boss you were talking about so I just went for the end of all hope

If you’re having trouble aiming at moving stuff, you can actually lock on to them and still deal massive damage like you see me do there a few times.

Also, in the video I’m not wearing anything special… regular aquilonian armor (gives extra bow damage), not even epic… I do have the red mother’s reach bow though with obsidian arrows so if you have something weaker, it’ll deal a tiny bit less damage, but still quite good. (If you get the skelos master armor that gives bow damage but also 40% follower damage so your thrall will become even more OP)

And Anders is a quite OP relic hunter treasure seeker, so like I said followers can still be good (he’s also not wearing epic armor and haven’t even swapped out for a strength one, his armor is giving him like 100 HP instead of a potential 30-40% damage boost and he’s using a regular non-upgraded legendary mace. So all in all, there are still lots of things to tweak in this setup and it’s not even remotely close to some “hardcore” “endgame” scenario that most people would have):

Also, a bit offtopic for everyone else… Notice that GameTweak update thing?

Edit: On further inspection I may have had God mode accidentally left on from testing other stuff, however I’m not really getting hit so I guess that part’s negligible in this case It doesn’t affect my damage output and I was avoiding most of the spiders, boss never hit me

Are you talking about PvP or PvE combat? In case you’re considering PvE combat, I’m even more confused about why they nerfed the thralls

I have all 4 authority perks. My problem is that the spider kills my thrall and I can’t do nothing. I tried to use Healing Arrows, but it wasn’t enought. Even if I try to hit the spider with my sword, my thrall dies very fast because of the poison. Is there any way to protect thrall from poison? My thrall is a level 20 Relic Hunter Treasure Seekers. I didn’t try archer build yet, but I will search how to use.

No worries I’m kinda still laughing at myself though for accidentally making a “how to survive this boss” with God mode on but I guess you saw the jest of it, the boss fight was what really mattered and it wasn’t a factor there

Another thing that I keep repeating as a parrot is the Grit of your thrall, make sure to double-check it, chances are it was 0 if it was an old follower placed before the patch and that could’ve contributed to why it died. (Agility no longer gives thralls armor, instead it’s grit)
If you’re on pc (private server / solo) I posted a solution here that fixes old thralls.

In any case overall the update is not bad imo, it is definitely different and it will catch a lot of people off-guard, but if you dig into the possible builds and the new stats on armor etc a bit it’s really not bad.
Hopefully you’ll kick the spiders backside! GL

For you to realize how bad I am at combat, I didn’t realize you were in god mode. But I understood that the secret is the amount of damage caused by the arrows

All my thralls were placed before the patch. I will check the grit of my thralls. She died very fast, something was wrong.

Oh, for that now you can make any armor look like any other armor. Sorcery added an illusion system so you no longer have to run around in the ugliest armor just for the stats

It will still take me a while to explore sorcery in the game. I play very slowly. But I found the possibility of changing the appearance of an armor with magic very interesting. I hope I won’t need to drain anyone’s blood to do this…

Poison bosses are brutal. Poison ignores armor, and so, the newly decreased health pools and damage make poison attacks on thralls much more powerful than before.

Try out non-poison world bosses like the giant croc.

If you have to do a poison boss, use the “call back” command once our thralls reach poison level 5. Let them run around for a while until the poison wears of.
There are other ways to protect thralls, but easiest way is this.

As a comparison: I’m not good in Conan Exiles. But on Testlive, I managed to kill the End of All Hope (spider boss with the Nemedian helmet) with level 4 Exiles Thralls at level 30 or so. They used basic crafted armor and world boss weapons farmed from the croc boss nearby.

Was it difficult?

Yes, very much so. I used all I got. Kiting. Melee. Ranged. Healing potions. Oh, so many healing potions. I had to reset the fight once or twice, as my thralls were going down too fast. But it did work in the end.
I didn’t know of some stuff, e. g. the new food and potion buffs. I didn’t have epic armor and a crap build. But it worked.

Use Potions of Rebirth to give your thralls the best perks. Give them food, potions, poisons for their weapons. Test things out a little. And don’t use Exiles Thralls, they rrrrreally suck now.

Yeah. My experience with having two thralls was that they were op. Granted I was using two t4 thralls but it’s not like that’s hard to get.

If you’re playing on officials then you’re sadly at the mercy of Funcom whether they’ll apply a fix for that or not, if you’re on a private server then you could just direct the owner to my post I linked above or fix it yourself in case you’re in single player

There are a few of my thralls that actually have grit, that I have had for a long time, but the majority do not. I am not even sure what the attribute cap for them is or if these boosts work.
I have a level 20 Janus that has 62 + 20 strength and he does not hit any harder than Snowhunter. The highest health I can get on any thrall is also him, with the perk he goes to 6K. Of course I can get bearers a lot higher, but they suck at fighting.

Yes that’s because of the hidden modifiers. So while one might have more strength than the other, they also might get a weapon modifier like 0.8 that will make their damage suck (those are simply based on their race/tier)
The one I have above is a RHTS and he has 6.2k HP without the buff and when I make him follow me it shoots up to 7.6k, also does decent damage.

Apparently, she currently has two perks that give +3 Strength and +3 Agility. That’s pretty bad.

Use Poitions of Rebirth on her to get +Vitality perks to increase her health. 3669 is too low imho. Around 5k should be possible.

Put her in armor that increases strength damage, e. g. guardian. Epic greatsword, add a second thrall with a sundering weapon (mace or great hammer), done. Really, they should rock.

Try them out on a croc boss. Use Venom-Infused Daggers if you have those to add to their damage.

What boost are you talking about exactly? The one added by authority or the one added by extra minion?

I watched a sorcer analysis video, which I assume was from testlive; the undead thralls from shallow graves could have vastly different healthbar numbers. The scale was like 4k-12k. I assume this goes the same for any thralls when comparing them at lvl 0 and lvl 20. (The change is because undead thralls start at lvl 20 instantly)

In other words, seeing a 4k increase in health doesnt really mean much, and one thrall is not enough of proof of much anything because the effect of RNG is so huge.

We are not discussing undead thralls. We are talking about the top tier authority boost options.

The croc bosses do not poison, so even though I use them as a baseline test for melee, there are plenty of other factors involved in boss fighting.
All of my best fighters are in full + strength armor, and use either an epic great sword or epic great axe.
The whole discussion has been the merits of having the authority boost vs two thralls. Any mob that spams AOE is going to do equal damage to both thralls, so having the single thrall with +30 stats and + 2k health is better IMO, and I have tried it both ways.

Stamina aint that low? I have 175 stam. And with 1 stam buff closer to 200. You also have agi perk that gives you 1 free hit after roll. I think stam is more than enough tbh.
