Have a look around New Asagarth. There’s a journal next to a set of stone stairs that hasn’t been there before. Could it be hinting toward what’s coming in the new secret update?
(Note: It’s possible it’s been there for all these years, but i doubt it considering it’s actually not hidden so well. It’s also not on this list at the time of making this post.)
Don’t know if the book is new or not. I cannot find any sources about, though - so either, nobody noticed it for years, or nobody talked about it, or it is new(ish), e. g. introduced in the December update.
If anybody would install a pre-december version, that’d probably solve it.
I would, but can‘t (console player, no install media), but I’m pretty sure it was there before the last update (but not from the beginning, it was added later).
That, in my view, hints at that journal being a preview of things to come. If it was added in 2023, it’s most certainly not some forgotten lore piece (like the references to Telith’s Ghost), but a conscious later addition.
Considering the small team size, 2023 probably was when things were being started that might get finished three years later.
I feel like you’re making the wrong conclusion from my post
I was merely pointing out that it was already there 3 years ago, I didn’t say it was added then, because I do not know.
If I actually had to guess I would say it was added back around the release of the North map expansion like I said earlier.
Why do I think that? Because the text is clearly talking about that, which is why I dismiss it as a “preview of things to come”.
The text talks about the breaking of the initial Cursewall that opened up the passage to the North
The Exiled Lands map was much smaller on the initial iteration:
They added the North later and then the Volcano and the Jungle, none of those places existed at the start. The world had the cursewall / ghost fence around it, you can now see the old pillars that have been replaced with “broken” ones, letting you pass into the new zones.
In that text the guy says he settled down in New Asgarth which was on the other side of the previous wall.
The only thing that doesn’t add up is the colors of the bracelets, but that has always been a bit of a plot hole It’s possible they intended for them to shift color after their world expansion and simply didn’t bother or something.
My point is, the journal is talking about past events that already happened, so I don’t really see how it can be taken as a clue to future things aside from speculating based off the very last sentence that “We know that these walls can be breached” - which is not necessarily a surprise since the main “quest” allows you to outright remove your bracelet, so your protagonist isn’t really held captive like the rest of the people, having to rely on the fence malfunctioning
Also if the new update was somehow about “what’s beyond the fence” - the main objective and assembling a keystone is a far better story thread to tie that on to than this journal.
No no, it’s cool Don’t worry about it, as you can see it’s an interesting subject, that video they linked for example talks about this and it’s just one day old, so definitely a nice topic no need to delete
Even if it was a new thing, another map expansion is off the table. It’s been said many times that it wouldn’t be possible except maybe a relatively small addition which wouldn’t probably add anything meaningful to the map anyway. I’m happy with the size of the map.
However, speaking of bracelets, I wish there was more to the main quest. You get nothing for assembling the key. Your reward is character deletion Maybe if we could do something with the keystone. Like idk, set our thralls free under specific conditions and in exchange for something interesting or useful…
