Hard to tell the time in this game. Especially when a sandstorm is going on. A sundial would help with that. it could be synced with the servers day/night time settings.

A sundial would not help during a sandstorm as it requires the sun to shine on it to cast a shadow … and the sun is obscured by the mass of sand in the air during a sandstorm.
I listen out for the bird call signalling dawn. And once I got the glow stick recipe from the dregs instance, never travel without the glow stick, glowing goop and 10-20 bones … as I’m on PvE the night never needs to be dark to me unless I chose it to be.
PS: though I do like the idea of it as a functioning decoration…

Mitra would fit be the light god. Now it could even be a drop from a unique monster, that gives you the pieces and plans to restore it. I’m sure it would find its way to players in some unique way.
Sounds really good. Maybe several versions so you can build it on a market as well as a tower wall.

Not really realistic for a sundial to work without sun is it?
Not even speaking about the fact a sundial is a stationary device, but I would like a stationary one.
Besides I like the fact we have to find out ourselves what time it is.
It is survival to always be aware where east and west is and to check on the standing of the sun by looking up into the sky.
Pro-tip: The sun is the glowing spot in the sky

Hehehe a portable sundial…
But research “ancient clocks”, people have done some pretty clever things to tell time over the millennia… many or all of which should be viable to build since we have elevators and mechanical drawbridges
I’d like to see someone build a sundial in the game with some pillars and stuff.

Now there’s an idea! It’d probably have to be pretty huge given the scale we’re building at, but it should actually be relatively doable…
Your right about the scaling @Mikey. I wouldn’t want something bigger than shrines nor smaller than a rabbit.
