At this point, 70-90% of Conan players’ experience is probably spent at level 60, if not more. For many of us, it is much more, and we need something more to do. The proposal below could be one of the most manageable and impact changes regarding player engagement and diversity, especially from a roleplaying perspective. This could also add a few hundred hours of replayability to the game.

Proposal:

Have the ability to put not yet deployed thralls in a sorcery-type bench and have the stats of one transfer to another as a sacrifice. The entire community knows there are currently only a few options for combat thralls, especially for PVP. This seriously limits diversity and roleplaying in the game. We get to choose between a few white dudes but primarily Dalinsa. Suppose we can add Dalinsia or Berserker stats to our Dafari warrior so we can roleplay and still be effective. In that case, I think this would go a long way in player enjoyment, engagement, and diversity in the game.

The mod community has already proven this doable as they have ways to change the appearance of thralls, so in effect, this would be a complete swap and could fit in with the lore of the game and give the depth aspect to farming thralls.

It gives a reason to capture additional thralls and visit other areas of the map that would otherwise have no purpose to many players.

Thank you.

Hmm… I’m not sure “diversity” is the word I would’ve chosen to then proceed and describe a xerox machine for stats

Preservation box.

This would indeed be an interesting application for sorcery.

As I see it there are two arguments I would raise against this, let us commence with the practical domains. For one it removes what little individual identity thralls actually have, and turns them into a number card, which we just cut and paste, or plug from one slot (ie-body) to another. Now two, fom a PvP standpoint it trivialises any form of strategic and meaningful reconniasance of enemy bases before raiding, and transforms capturing other players thralls from a strategic operation into a player made RNG charade.

Now let us address your diversity claims. This post smacks of an agenda, contextual distortions and misguided virtue signalling. All you have done here is pull a Texas sharpshooter fallacy, cherry picking the data sets to dishonestly infer that quote: “all the best thralls are white”.

Hogwash. So are Kisthis Fleshtearer, Spinas the Marauder, Daicas the Sharp, Erii the Ravager and the rest of the Voltaries of Skelos all white!? What about Seeker Iris and other Relic Hunter Treasure Seekers, and others among the Relic Hunter faction, who are the gold standard of thralls, are they all white too…!? Both for the record described by the Wiki as “the two most powerful factions” in the game. And that is to say nothing of the craftsmen. Just because the best thrall is of Caucasian extract, it is not tantamount to Conan Exiles being ‘racist’ or lacking in diversity, and any such claims are utterly ludicrous. Period. There are numerous races of every imaginable colour and creed available at the character creation screen, and populating the two maps of this amazing game. And what about the fact that the game features other races such as Serpentmen, Frost Giants, Elder Creatures, GiantKings, First Men, ThunnHa frogmen and Grey Ones. That diverse enough for you? Next you will be saying that the thrall gender spawns are sexist and disproportionate.

Based on the compounding points of the arguments outlined above, it is a ‘no’ from me on this one.

Thanks for the serious answer  I was attempting to write one last night but I was still laughing from this guy pulling the “virtual race card” on a videogame

My pleasure Xevyr! We do not need race or gender quotas to enjoy the game. And to say that the game lacks diversity is blatantly false, deliberately misleading or both. If people can not enjoy this phenomenal game without shoehorning diversity politics into it, then I would postulate that Conan Exiles is not the game for them. There are literally hundreds, more likely thousands of sites around the internet where people can discuss and advocate for this sort of thing if it appeals to them, without trying to push it here.

You can set aside all the diversity stuff as a distraction and simply state, “It would be nice to be able to change how my thrall looks without having to install a mod to install a mod to do it.”

For example, as far as I know, thralls never have facial hair and it would be nice to have my base guarded by a bunch of grumpy looking bearded men.

For a game that’s 75% percent setting up a big virtual dollhouse to admire and run around in, it’s kinda unfortunate I can’t change anything about how my thralls look.

What I would like is some real diversity in thralls, i.e. compelling reasons to use followers from all factions. Sure, Darfari Cannibals might be weaker than the Heirs of the North, but give them some advantage over the other factions.

They could give each faction a unique perk , example if dafari fighters eat raw meat they get a dmg boost called dafari bloodlust . Or if a Nordheimer drinks alcohol they receive a defence bonus like Nordic prowess. Basically unique food for each faction . And they could do the same with armor .

I think the guy just wants some new thrall models added to the game , sadly he mix a bit of spice in with what he wants

Well put. This is the essence without needing to use diversity as a crutch.

Fashionist is one of the greatest quality of life improvements for me. I’d probably still play the game without it, but it makes me so much happier that I don’t have to see the colorless aprons everywhere.

Barber would be the way to do it. Like a Barber Chair/Station instead of the Orb of Nergal, it would let you at least alter the thralls/your character’s hair and facial hair styles in a similar manner to that of GTA V’s barber shops and salons. You wouldn’t be able to do all the stuff you can to your own character with the Orb of Nergal, but at least you could change some of the hair and beard styles that you don’t like and perhaps at least get a a few thralls to act as body doubles that way for distractions or something.

Otherwise just make the Orb of Nergal able to add a thrall slot to it, which you can then choose to alter. Again, probably only to alter their hair and beard styles. You could even add reskins for (deployed?) thralls like turning them into Wights or Skeletons or something using the same system.

To be completely honest, I just put the diversity tag because it might pique some corporate types’ interest and attract argumentive types to go on a rant to keep the thread going giving it a higher likely hood of being seen by devs. Thank you.

Pretty sure trying to intice an argument has a higher chance of getting the thread locked and removed than it does getting your point across.

There’s a name for that:

Play Siptah! You will be amazed with your Darfari army.

They use to have great survival.
They were die hard in lava and from Spiders and snakes (bosses)
Now they go out in Siptah with huge grit, they again are die hard. Especially the bearer
“The one who carries through storms” (yes all this is his name)
Is by far my best bearer of all times.
