People already know, it is cosmetic, will not have any bonuses, and will not be any better than standard armor. What you fail to undestand is people are buying for aesthetics right now, and are not looking for that killer armor set, because we know it wont be in the Bazaar.

But how is that any different than any other marketing when limited editions come into play? Sure i can get any crappy seat cushion now but there is a limited edition John Candy exclusive cushion out right now and if I don’t get it, I may never get it again. Your problem isn’t with FC but with marketing and capitalism. The problem here is that you view this as just exploitation of the psyche instead of a learning lesson for all to get more shrewd with purchases. We all have stories of really really dumb purchases that we learned from. It it wrong for a bar to have specials on shots midway into the night knowing the clientele is chemically inebriated beyond rational decision making? They do it. What about a car sales person that pushes special custom features that can only be done at the dealership? What about computer sales that push rather expensive security packages onto grandma because she only hears the bad things that can happen out there? All of these are normal business practices…sorry they are and each one of our employers do shady stuff to market their products (or vision/policies for you nonprofits/government employees). Predatory? Everyone just needs to calm down and look in the mirror of the glass houses we all have comfortably made for ourselves. The art of persuasion is flat out manipulation of others.

I didn’t realize there was a new armor set out. I need to check that out. A gibbet you say… hmm

FOMO isn’t exclusive to video games. It’s a very old sales tactic, and it’s not going anywhere.

Sales and marketing is literally an entire profession built around convincing people to buy things.

Get it before its gone! Limited time only! Playing in your town this weekend only! Clearance sale! Once it’s gone, it’s gone! and let’s not forget happy meal prizes, cereal box prizes, trading cards… the list goes on.

Saturday morning cartoons were a very effective marketing education.

But what was promised? I don’t recall anything broke outside of p2w and that can be argued as how much benefit is there to some of the stuff… gibbet is something I will nearly exclusively exploit in pvp but it most certainly doesn’t give me an edge in raiding or defending. I’m not going to win any battles because you are having a hard time finding my base. I’ll win the war, sure but that usually happens regardless if I was wiped or not… same 30-60 days applies regardless. Either way they leave the server and I continue on. The 200k hp building pieces?..I haven’t been raided in the last year that didn’t result in wasteful explosive use wiping…I don’t see how this is going to distract the hardcore pvp crowd at all. All this will affect is the casual ones which were gonna get lessoned anyway. While I do see advantage, I would be very hesitant on calling it p2w…more like pay to be less annoyed. Also these things can be balanced easier as well in Future updates…even gibbet by decreasing the speed accordingly to the size (ie a quarter of the speed of a lesser wheel) the gibbet has a place in any play without fear of unbalancing. You pay in time for the space savings.

And then the errors…the missing hit boxes etc. Mistakes that will eventually be corrected. That wasn’t intentionally put in but are certainly getting exploited by disreputable types. But mistakes happen.

As we can clearly see it does not matter in that case as that’s cash crab - even with that ‘shed load of money’ nothing really changed besides more cosmetics - gamebreaking bugs are still not fixed in time even if its just one value to change… They just simply not care.

Then we shall see when Dune launches if this is an attempt at one last payout before they put the axe to the goose who laid their golden egg.

I doubt they will ‘put the axe…’ - i think they will keep milking it with ocasionally releasing some skins and some lazy ‘content’ updates.
For example witch hunt & pet rebalance is lazy content - its nice to have but c’mon that’s easiest content to make. Atleast there’s a lot fixes BUT most important bugs / exploits are not fixed for WEEKS - immortal wolf or hp of some building piece.

Sounds like something Conan would do. That goose reeks of sorcery.

Mhmm. One of the longest-running cartoon series even has “Gotta catch 'em all!” as their slogan.

I’m very much a completionist as a personality. But over the years I’ve come to accept the fact that I’m not going to live forever, so I’m not going to complete everything I want in life. That makes it easier to accept the ideas that I’ll never complete all Steam challenges in the games I play; I’ll never complete my collection of Tex Willer comics (because the series is older than I am by ~30 years and will probably live on after me); I’ll never visit all medieval castles in Europe; and I’ll never own all cosmetic items in Conan Exiles.

I still hate FOMO as a marketing strategy; but I’m trying to make myself an invalid target for it.
