Age of Heroes - Chapter 1 Q&A

Tell you the truth been so long off the beta server I can’t rightly recall.

But the only thing I need t do on live is set up a common room in my main base; have more then enough room, and lay off a few artisans. Set up little break areas in my transtone bases.

I may be on about it, but I’m more encouraged to play by the loss of one player on the live server then I am about the age of heros.
Is that bad?

Good thing my base is right next to her spawn currently. Gonna stock up on OG freya thralls, even though my base is full of them already.

Shes a great thrall.

How “full”

Hey there good buddy. I know this is coming back to you rather late. With growing real life busyness and responsibilities, I have been finding it increasingly difficult to find time for forum correspondence as of late, to the point if I am now getting 1-2 posts done on a day, I consider myself fortunate. I know there have been some developments and clarifications since you posted, so I shall do my best to keep that in mind as we proceed.

I was initially inclined to agree with you there, and this would likely be the case for servers, but I do wonder if Singleplayer mode may be the exception here. We know that the world does not continue to play out or ‘live’ while we are logged out, or for that matter located in different areas of the map (e.g.-events in the Volcano do not continue to transpire while we are in the Jungle). This is part of the reason why it is so time consuming for us to get meteors to appear. With regard to bases, it all begins and ends with log in for us. So I do wonder if we may end up with a a synchronized workforce one could set their watch to.

This is purely a me problem, and a first world one at that, and it is not intended as a criticism of the update per se. But at this point I have all but run out of room at my base. I have a workshop room downstairs on the dirst floor, but as the size and number of workbenches has grown over the years, I ran out of room to house them all, and I have been forced to lining up workbenches along the exterior walls of my house. And look honestly, I really would prefer not to have to put some 15 beds down around the outside of my base and make it look like a shanty town. Moreover, the performance can lag and stutter at times now, so I do not really wish to expand the existing structure. I would likely have to erect a new structure elsewhere. Which hypothetically speaking I could live with. But honestly, I would prefer that much like fighters, archers, dancers and bearers they did not sleep at all. I also worry that they will let my cats out or wandering NPC mobs in. Though I did read Den’s post outlining that there were plans to allow us to restrict their movements and interactions in latter updates, which I found heartening.

If we could cage them at a latter point that would be beneficial, though I am led to believe that will not be available from the off. The whole impending settlement system and the Companions with questlines sounds highly reminiscent of Fallout 4 to me. I recall I used to assign settlers to their own beds, but they would still wander into my house, use my durniture and sleep in my characters bed. And in a bid to keep them out I used to have to put a single fence piece in front of the door, then watch them moonwalk on the spot trying to get in, then they would still sometimes teleport in. I would like to reaffirm that I am very much open to this change, and I have no pre-existing implicit biases against it. At this time I am but an impartial and inquisitive observer, waiting to try it all out. I will however be looking forward to seeing the restrictions on crafter movements, to nullify the pain in the but factor that came with Fallout 4’s settlement system.
