Age of War Chapter 4 Public Beta Discussion Megathread

The way I understand how they work from reading the description is probably the best way you’re ever going to get it. Paired animations are hard and there’s a reason why whenever you see them in games it’s always in the capacity where control is taken away from the player for that brief moment. Think back to every stealth takedown in a game or something like the killcam/VATS animations in bethesda games.

Unless you can accept tons of stuff being out of alignment or mistimed, you gotta lock things down for the animation to play.

Can Someone please POST the loot from the New purge levels and the Max level now?

Seemed old style to me but I’ve been playing enshrouded a lot more then Conan of late.

Once again I will be the guy pointing out the good stuff, like sort and stacks. This will make emptying my back pack so much faster.
{unless you are 60th level with stacks of full chests of materials}.

By the time I had everything sorted and set on my old game on test/beta, the beta would be over.

A ballista.
Some jump scares for night encounters; werejackles.
Change up to thrall commands; like thralls act on commands.
Enemy dazed state. Ok this is kinda fun, enemy sort of wobbling there for a few seconds before they drop. Well bleed out.
Siptah stuff. I’m neutral on Siptah, got it, didn’t like it, still needs dev support.

Rather have seen the bug fixes done incrementally as they were ready.

Will it get me active in Conan again? Not really. I am done with the public toilets, and singleplayer is just depressing.

There were a couple of quests like this in Age of Conan. To acquire a tiger cub you had to defeat it’s mother naked and unarmed and there was one to dance naked at the Yun sacrificial pits of fire. Talk about disco inferno…

Miss the depth of AoC’s quests and dialogue. Wish it had performed better and gotten more development. Herald of Xotli ftw.

Edit: Oh yeah. AoC had fatalities also.

To clarify it is shown as 2 separate 6% boosts so there’s that loop hole.

Beta won’t start up for me - Launcher comes up and just hangs there with the Funcom logo and the spinny thing - checked files, done a complete uninstall and reinstall - nothing, just sits there spinning

update - launches if I run the game directly, just the launcher that seems to hang.

From what @forkyeah was saying it sounds like there has been at least one (unmentioned by patch notes) change to combat - allowing players to control direction again. However - this would a) only fix one small part of what has been screwed up and b) probably only be relevant for keyboard/mouse users (since my understanding was that the ‘player facing’ problems part of the combat screw-ups were largely irrelevant to controllers). I’m not seeing any mention of doing the slightest thing about enemies’ lock on and ability to change direction in mid air.

I’m also seeing not a lot of promised fixes, or even finishing features that were partially introduced and they ‘ran out of time’ for. Doesn’t sound like the Seige is going to be updated or optimised. Frankly this makes the comments made by Funcom/Dennis that they were ‘adding chapter 4 to finish off features they didn’t have time for’ sound dishonest. Once again, we do not get fixes and finishing, we just get more half-baked new ideas and more bugs. The ‘known issues’ section of the patch notes mentions some pretty major issues - but don’t worry, players can ‘fix’ them by logging out of the game and then logging back in every time they try to transfer something to follower inventories. I’m sure that’ll make for a great gameplay experience.

This update was already not on ‘schedule’ and I cautiously applauded that as evidence that they were taking the time to finish it rather than sticking to some arbitrary schedule. Yet they release to testlive with major known issues. Based on past experience, that means these bugs will be coming to live in the next couple of weeks (then the Devs will take a short holiday - because they’ve promised not to do that again, so we know they will) and then we can all wait for the next update to hope that we get some improvement…

I have an idea for fatalities. As we know, it will be optional feature. So I was thinking, how about dismemberment through fatalities. All we know, how ridiculous it looks now. So, if fatalities is on, then dismemberment will occur only though killmoves. No more ripped off limbs if u died bec of arrows, blunt weapons, sandstorms and etc. If fatalities is off, then dismemberment will work as before.

And I’d like to see return of crossbows improved and rebalanced.

I can only hope that the StarCaller mages at max level purge is not going to be abused by griefers… This can completely ruins all PvE servers…and pretty much turn them in to PvP.

Well, there might be the possibility if that happening, but if not that, then it’s something else. People always find a way to get on each other’s nerves. Maybe they could simply make other players builds imune to purge dmg.

The feature itself, however, looks really good. I hope sorceror built players get to use it one day and we may have sorceror followers in the future.

I really was hoping for an overhaul of the purge loot you get after defeating the boss. At the moment it is quite disappointing.
Guess we will demolish our purge base and call it a day with purges :frowning:

Yes, the loot doesn’t pay off what you risk by running a high level purge, but what did you have in mind? You already get some t4 thralls. What would be your suggestion, @lanier67 ?

Isn’t it the strongest greatsword in the game ?

I mean it’s already not that special, considering there are Hanuman’s Gada and Momentum, but it should still be something …

It’s so rare that in 5 years I’m playing I only dropped it once… what nerf are they planning for it ?

so you do all the JS hunt fights naked, get the Bestial Regalia and seem to go shy again as it has boob covering on females :stuck_out_tongue:

Currently, yes, but not in Chapter 4. Its damage is nerfed down to 78 and its armor pen is also slightly lower at 20%.

Which was the over whelming winner of the poll. This one little change sucked a good portion of the fun out of my game.

I haven’t checked that yet. Kind of apprehensive about laying my… parts on the anvil. Those laser guided heavy hammers have killed me more the everything else combine in this age.

The other day i was on live finishing out the battle pass; really haven’t been playing, Got the poison a rhino challenge. Easy enough. Shot, rhinos comes charging, role left, rhino has 4 wheel steering and just does a quick lane change. Role again, lane change again, and the jack hammer hit PPPPPPPPPboom. That isn’t how physics works.

Watched that yesterday, linked it in a couple of places. Made me want to get on and check some stuff.

More than enough. With a kit, it’s still very powerful.
