I don’t know why nobody mentions this about bows, but you trade damage for range, it’s pretty clear to me.
You cannot make bows deal as much damage as melee weapons or you end up with something extremely overpowered, and you break weapon balance.
That being said, I really don’t get why people complain about bows… Yeah the very best bow and arrows are quite rare, especially the bow being the Reach of the Red Mother, while for the arrows you get the Mandibles of Atlach-Nacha and those are easier to farm (especially on Siptah since there are multiple spawn points). But even with crafted bow and arrows (go serpentmen arrows they only cost iron and demon blood) you can deal a good chunk of damage with each charged shot, and currently I can take away about a third of Rotbranch’s life away before it can reach me and I switch to melee weapon (or I can keep rolling and playing the fight with bow only, lol)
The only thing that needs a change is Archer Thralls, but I honestly don’t know why people want to use them. If you use archers it’s most likely for base defense, and you just slap a ton of them around to make anything that approaches die in seconds.
The changes I would do to Archer Thralls:
• Force them to use charged shots
• Give them the double projectile speed of the Dead Shot perk, or even the full perk since they will likely not shoot from far enough to get the bonus damage anyway.
• Give them a low chance to level strength and vitality.
• Give them a high chance to level agility and grit.
→ Even if a fighter thrall ends up with more agility than an archer, they would still not be as good because they would not always charge shot, and they would not have double projectile speed.
Nevertheless, if you are an archer player, Rolling Thrust into Charged Shot is really strong. I don’t recommend picking Dead Shot if you’re a solo player though, you won’t get the damage bonus often enough if you’re not in a team IMO, so Precision Strike will help and you can always switch to a melee weapon if needed and get constant value in both cases.
