How does agility work on pets? Is it just damage protection?

It must be the frequency of the attacks, but I’m not sure. I say this because I noticed that some with superior agility attacked more.
It just gives them additional armor.

I would never think that, since animals don’t wear armor. Sometimes the logic does not apply in games. 
Armor represents the pets ability to avoid damage, so it could be viewed as dodging or evading as well. It’s essentially a construct that represents the pet or thralls capacity to mitigate damage.
