Can’t help but notice the agility melee weapons all have the same characteristic. They all can spam light attacks. Was this intentional?

Light attacks are designed to be quick attacks with low stamina drain…That’s why they’re called light attacks.
But these weapons in particular. The shortsword, the katana, the daggers. These are different than swords, axes, pikes,etc
