Hey guys, has anyone else had strange issues with weapons?
I spent a couple weeks in a new game and finally reached a level I could make steel weapons.

So, I make me a good steel short sword. I figured a short sword would be a bit easier to handle ya know.
Anyway, I get my medium armor on and get my new short sword and off I go to kill some unsuspecting NPC’s.

I found a blackhand camp and I crouched and snuck up on a guy, who was evidently paying pretty close attention
because he noticed me, yelled something and came running.
I pulled my short sword and began to swing. As I was swinging I noticed a couple of his friends come running to join the fight,
I figured because they knew I was going to destroy their buddy.
So I am swinging away at these Blackhands and I swear all I hit was air, but they didn’t miss me once.

So when I respawned at my base, because I forgot to put down my bedroll… probably another bug.
I made me some new armor and a axe this time. I killed a kappa and totally destroyed the poor thing in less than 10 minutes, testing the axe.

This time I decided to run out to the jungle and go for some Lemurians. You know, Derketo worshippers, the lovers not fighters theory.
I knew there was a camp up on a plateu so I wound my way around through the mountains and jungle and found my way up.

There was a lone Lemurian sitting on the edge of a cliff, not paying attention to anything.
Knowing that sneaking wasn’t working properly, I decided this time I would just bum rush the NPC.
I pulled my axe, ran at a sprint, swung my axe and the swing through me off the cliff, without touching the NPC.

So when I respawned at my base, because the bedroll bug again. I made some new armor.
This time thinking maybe the armor was bugged, I made heavy armor.
Knowing the sword and axe are bugged I made a mace this time. I went back to the Blackhand camp and the NPC that had killed me before was still standing there.
So this time knowing I was going to crush him, I ran in and began to swing the mace.

That NPC must have been a veteran or something because as soon as I swung the mace he kind of side stepped the blow, and the momentum of the swing threw me into the center of the camp spinning in circles.
The next thing I knew, every NPC in the camp was hitting me.

So when I respawned at my base (lets not talk about the bedroll bug).
I decided maybe a bow. So because I am now going to be an archer, I made light armor and a new Nemedian bow with some iron arrows.
Thinking that NPC at the Blackhand camp stands no chance now.

I run back over there and… there he is. I think he saw me because he had this smurk on his face and was yelling again.
So I drew the bow, which I forgot to drag the iron arrows onto so it said “No Ammo”.
Quickly opening my inventory I see the NPC has decided to come for me. So I drag the arrows onto my bow and closed my inventory, just as he hit me with a sword.
Knowing I was out gunned, I took off running, the NPC hot on my tail.

Now I tried everything but no matter how fast I ran, I could not shoot that bow behind me while he was chasing me.
Well the NPC finally turned around, knowing he wasn’t going to catch me, I can run like a jack rabbit.
I thought fine, I’ll shoot him from a distance this time. So I draw the bow and let loose an arrow.
I damaged 3 rocks and a banner but finally hit him and he was mad. So I fired the bow a few more times.
Arrows look pretty cool when they hit cliffs, rocks and trees. So the NPC is closing on me, I unequip the bow, and realize I forgot to make another sword or anything.

So when I respawned at my base, I decided to call it a night and report these bugs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Since you are talking about a bedroll bug, are you playing on a modded server? Perhaps a custom map?

Modded server, and the only bedroll bug was my memory Narelle. lol

This one has sometimes noticed that enemies seem to teleport away from attacks, or otherwise move in mysterious ways when ping is high or a server is having latency issues.

Lag is one of the most dangerous of foes.

Do you, perchance, use target lock?

What you have been experiencing is the changes to the combat system.
I also had to adapt to the changes being that you literally have no hyper armor while npc’s often have + that they sometimes do not take damage from your attacks if they start a counter attack on you, in that case it doesn’t matter if you had started a combo before their counter.
Your best move then will be rolling away and try again or simply just use hit-roll, hit-roll etc.
skeletons are a really good example of this and while latency definitely can be an issue, they quite often start a counter attack not taking damage from you even if you already have started a heavy combo.

The best way to win a fight against any npc is to let them do their attack and evase, once they have finished their atttack that is when you attack them, always be aware of and learn their attack patterns, oh and not to forget never get in the middle of several angry npc’s, that is usually a recipe for a disaster, try to spread them out a bit and only do small attacks on them, if they stagger you then your only option is to roll away.
I hope it makes sense to you

Y’all, my post was meant to be a joke. To bring a little humor in here.
The only problem with my weapons is the guy holding them.
The only bug in my game is me.
Sorry I failed so miserably to make you laugh or even smile.

I think you described a lot of us there, at least I fit to it :joy:

For mercy’s sake, what kind of laughter can there be when these black guys are so aggressive, vindictive and inhospitable? I read it and tears welled up in my eyes.
Next time you go to them, try to shame them.
