Are we alone in conan exiles?

Are there still admins at Funcom who deal with hackers and griefers in Conan Exiles? When was the last time an admin actually intervened in the server activity?

you’re not alone Susi, we can play together on 1036

Funcom does not announce when they ban a hacker, nor do hackers announce that they got banned by Funcom, so we have no way of really knowing if Funcom is doing anything or not.

Well, someone responsible could at least say a few reassuring words. I don’t understand why we’re being left in such uncertainty. Back when people were still getting banned for land-claiming, admins would log into the server and were visible in the player list. Word about that spread quickly. Where are they now, when there are real violations of the rules?

Who are you, then? We’ve already had plenty of “help.” Thanks to all the deputy sheriffs (who joined the server since the postswere opened), the purge griefers are no longer a problem. What we need now is someone who deals with hackers xD — or even better, someone who just brings some peace for once instead of creating even more chaos.

It’s a couple years that we had an extended conversation in here and a Dev told us something different about how they clean the server from the violation. He told us that he was getting the archive from g Portal of the particular server and load it on a single player session. After completing the cleaning he was giving the archive back to g Portal so it would load with the next refresh. So I kinda wonder what makes you think that you saw an admin online, i don’t argue i am just asking.

It was obvious — or a very strange joke. The player was named Admin, and his Funcom name also contained “admin.” He was only online for a short time, and afterwards a base had disappeared, except for a few building pieces. I never had any doubts, honestly. Other players saw it too.

They also doesn’t prevent it from happening.

Heck they don’t even read the forum anymore.

Communication has always been Funcom’s strong point.

Joking aside, many gaming companies publish the number of banned players at least periodically.
Russian based companies are not afraid to do so and publish the nicknames of players directly.
Here? Nothing.
I recently read the memoirs of a store manager where there was a passage about not-so-intelligent subordinates who, when one of them who always turned on the lights in the store in the morning stayed home sick, the rest ran around the store in the dark.
In CE, we now have automatic rotation in the bazaar, events are not switched over, and the Christmas decay timer, even with the announcement, is still in the game a months later…
It seems to me that Bob, who was in charge of this, is at home sick (or got fired), and the rest of the company doesn’t know what to do or has forgotten about CE.

That’s true. The Christmas timer is a good indicator that nobody is doing their job there anymore. I’ve looked for other servers to play on, but they’ve joined those too by now.

But hey, at least someone is still sitting at the cash register. Complaints excluded though ^^

We agree in both sentences United

Hey, that gives me an idea :joy:

Eventually something happens, sometimes quickly, sometimes months.

That something could be anything from FC to boredom or running out of money on the hackers part.

It can be argued that not enough is being done when the same account logs in for months though.

This is true in regard to landclaim violation reports.

It’s also true that in some circumstances they do log in but did not explain when or why.

When was the last time you heard or saw that someone was banned or that an admin logged in? Basically the last sign of activity

I don’t pay attention much anymore to the whispers of that community so I am not sure. I’ve also not subjected myself directly in PVP for a long ass time because I’m tired of it. I have been sliced, diced and taken from Queen to rags more times that I can remember from hacking.

If you’re looking for understanding this situation, none of us know wtf is truly happening but I can give you my perspective.

They changed a lot of how they moderate back in 2021/2022 so the last time I saw an admin login was prior to that. The likelihood of you seeing an active admin is very low to begin with considering those changes, even with an overall server count to 740some after the server merges. That’s a lot with a small team to deal with. Why I would assume they look for automated solutions such as reviewing tickets with a save on their consoles like @stelagel pointed out.

No matter what I do not think they even do the bare minimum for the game, I want to make that clear regarding my stance in all of this. The communication is like a desert, service is sporadic and confusing, removing programs like the volunteer moderator program to triage issues and provide solutions is telling, no longer acknowledging bug reports on the forum, the letting go of Community Managers, etc.,…

The hacker problem in CE is not unique, it’s happening in most PC multiplayer live service to varying degrees. However, while some are just as bad, there are shining examples of the actions that FC could be taking to help their PC multiplayer group. While I do believe things happen in the background, eventually, it’s not enough to help us while it is happening in the long-term, as it always is.

No huge, game breaking/stability issue that this game experiences anymore seems to be a short term problem. Even if something happens only for a few days, it tends to appear to resolve itself on its “own”. The most recent example are multiple servers were completely wiped on Xbox, while I know of one that was restored, others have been ignored. The culprit “appears” to be GPortal upgrade migrations. We have NO idea if this is actually the truth. There was no warning, acknowledgement or advisement of next steps. So was it FC that fixed it? Maybe it was GPortal realizing their error for the one. We just don’t know.

Christ, I haven’t even seen the complaints regarding land claim violation suspensions lately…

And thinking out loud here, while they went completely MIA for Dune’s June 2025 launch, FC did start handling tickets again in late summer but again dropped off to nearly nothingness.

Something I think everyone needs to consider in all of this is that Tencent DID tell CEO Rui Casais to focus on their new game.

Apologies for my rambles.

Thank you very much. I understand it better now. It’s like everywhere else—they just don’t have enough money and too few staff :face_holding_back_tears: Yes, the land claim bans were about 4 or 5 years ago. But even the few employees that are still around should prioritize keywords like hacking and griefing.

The game still costs a lot of money to buy:money_bag:, and players are still investing in the Bazaar and the Battle Pass. So somewhere, you still expect a certain level of service. Maybe not for land claim issues or bugs, but for hacking and griefing that make the game unplayable.

Thank you for your answer :folded_hands:

Btw i’m sorry for what happened to you

Definitely too few staff right now but that is a tragedy of their own making, or rather, their overlords perhaps.

A few weeks ago Ignasi shared a job on his LinkedIn for a CE Community Manager, hopefully they’ve found someone and focus will solely be on CE.

While I believe that all players are important regardless of where, when, why or how they play, it has been explained that the majority are singleplayers. With that, to my observation, an apathy towards multiplayer with a bit of lassez-faire. Which is laughable with their change to live service.

Oh wait, that’s right, they needed it to implemant the :sparkles:Bazaar:sparkles: lol

Then gets rid of the BattlePass which was demonstrably a good deal but not making enough to justify its ongoing existence.

A bunch of us crafted a letter to CEO Rui Casais asking for better that was never acknowledged.

Yes, a certain level of service is expected and they have failed everyone at some point in this. But its a lot easier to comfortably coast as the majority play singleplayer quietly and buy the new shiny.

Maybe with Arnie talking about the King Conan movie (FC owns the IP through a subsidiary), potential players will start flocking and they’ll be forced to do the bare minimum.

The one thing I would disagree with here is the implication that singleplayer is in a good place. It’s still the same game, with all the enshittiffication that has taken place over the past couple of years. Certainly there isn’t the need for admin action that we can clearly see multiplayer is desperately crying out for, but equally they are losing the interest of singleplayers as well through their determination to push ahead with unwanted bug-laden changes that have a major negative impact on everyone’s gameplay.

We can dream. But at this point the bare minimum would appear to be a roll-back of every change they have made for the past few years. Get the game into a reasonable working state without all the unwanted changes and then fix the remaining bugs. When Den came aboard I was relatively hopefull, he said a lot of the right sounding things, but at this stage I have to consider that he has been a disaster for the game and we would actually have been better off if they had just fired all developers from the game (and stated they would never fix another bug or change a single line of code) and just spent a fraction of that money on admins for the servers. Quite honestly, the game would be in a better state and so would multiplayer…
