I have a close friend (this is a true story) that almost lost her daughter because she wanted to kill herself. I won´t get into detail, because thats very private but I will tell you that what she safed in the end was her online gaming friends.

I am personally not a big fan of deamonizing gaming as a hobby and forbidding children to play games. As long as they get properly supervised by their parents gaming can help them to cope from stress and anxiety.

I know that gaming helps me a lot to cope with my job. I work as a nurse. We are constantly understuffed, overworked, tired. We see a lot including death. Certain things our brain needs to process. Although we always try to keep professional distance we are all just human beeings and there are things that get close to us even if we do not want to. Don´t get me wrong, I love my job. I wouldn´t want to trait it for another one. But I know I need to cope the stress somehow. Gaming is no different from other hobbies.

Gaming is not my only hobby I am passionate stitcher also. I always get strange looks when I tell people. Because gaming is to nerdy for most and stitching to old fashioned. What I want to say is, that balance in live is very important. It doesn´t matter what your hobby is or if other people are in agreement with it. Its something that has to make you happy and you alone.
