In my opinion, the formula is stupidly simple: If you promise something, you stick to it.
Anything else is straight-up shady, dishonest, and just flat-out scummy.
And look, if an exclusive armor set turns out to be OP, there are tons of ways to fix that without breaking your word:
- Nerf the OP set
- Buff a similar vanilla set
- Release a new Bazaar set that matches it
Exclusive items are basically trophies. Nobody wants exclusives for the stats. People want exclusives to show them off.
One of the rarest items I own is the Royal Armor.
Do I wear it for the armor rating? For some weapon buff? Hell no.
I wear it because it screams, “Yeah, I believed in Conan Exiles back when it was a janky pre-release game everyone only talked about because you could adjust your character’s… ahem, body parts.”
When I build using pieces from the first-ever Battle Pass, is it because they make my base stronger? Nope.
It’s because I was there. I participated when most players rolled their eyes at the whole Battle Pass idea Funcom was pushing.
Do I decorate my base with Twitch drops? Absolutely.
Because it shows I’m not just a long-time player. I’m active, I’m plugged into the community, and I actually show up.
That’s the whole point.
Selling real in-game trophies as basic Bazaar items cheapens the most valuable part of the game: its history. All for pocket change.
It puts players who genuinely invested time and passion into Conan Exiles on the same level as someone whose “great achievement” was… swiping their credit card.
And that’s why nobody cares when they see a build full of Bazaar items. Anyone can get them just buying them.
There’s no story, no journey, no bragging rights.
It just says, “I have money IRL,” which isn’t bad, but it’s not the same as earning something in-game.
And that’s why people are desperate for exclusives to stay exclusive.
Because we live in a world where nobody is recognized for their history, effort, or dedication anymore. Only for what they can afford to buy.
