I am playing Conan Exiles with 2 friends, just us. It is like Single player but just 3 of us in the same clan. The Purge is the one thing that would make this great, but it’s ridiculous.
We setup our base just east of the unnamed city on a low plateau near the pillar and a huge tree. Ever so often we get a purge… A band of exiles. There have been 10 of them so far, they vary in strength only slightly.
We get the same 3 named people (Bari the blacksmith, Arik the Carpenter, and a named fighter) in most of the purges, but it’s really a joke. We have some archer thralls on our walls, but the purge people have never made it close to the wall… we go out and kill them before they get there. Same purge over and over. Never very hard. Honeslty we could have no walls, and couple greater pets standing in our base and we could ignore the purge.
I read that there is a purge map and that in our area of the desert purges should be level 3-4. Seems like this is a level 1 or 2 purge every time. We don’t want to move our base but we WANT level 6 purges now that we are level 60.
Purges shouldn’t be based on area of the map, but rather average clan level perhaps. They should rotate what comes at you, not always the same “band of exiles”. We should be able to make them harder in a way other than just making the same low level purge come more often.
There’s a known bug where whatever purge type your base first gets is the same purge type it will continue to get. Apparently this has been fixed on Test Live, so at least there’s that to look forward to.
In the meantime, since the co-op tethering probably prevents you guys from being very far apart, if one of you has a suitably powerful computer, you might consider running a server on the same PC and copying the save file to it so that you can spread out more. Then, you could have one of your friends split off into a separate clan and build a small base elsewhere so that you can fight what purges it might attract.
My best friend and I did this, and I just keep moving the purge base around the map every so often so we can fight different things, it’s quite fun.
We recently built a new base in the frost area, but waht tethering? never noticed any tethering at all. We can be at opposite ends od the world. But we are in the same clan. If we were in a different clan wouldn’t our thralls shoot then when they come in the main base?
Any way to fix that bug? We tried triggering the purge manually, and turning it off and on. Also restarting the server doesn’t seem to work.
Oh, I thought Co-Op mode had tethering, maybe I was mistaken. As for thralls attacking you, just set the game to PvE mode and that won’t happen. If you’re all friends then there’s no benefit to having it set to PvP that I can think of. Once in PvE mode, pets and thralls will still get agitated and run around when someone else visits, but they won’t go hostile and won’t be able to damage other players anyway.
As for working around that bug, I guess you could try running your games and server using the TestLive version instead, though I’d certain make a backup of the save file first. Beyond that, you’re probably stuck either having to build a different base or waiting on the bug fix to come thru whenever the next patch is.
@Grunt1 You might be happy if you check the patch notes for today:

- Fixed an issue where the only one type of purge would trigger in any given location.
