Brand new to game: cpl. questions

Have only had the game two days…never played any other version of this game, so it’s all new to me, and have a cpl. unrelated questions:

Is the only way to ‘save’ the game, and my progress, is to exit the game?

I was sent to ‘Kingsmouth’, and am doing quests/missions there…can I leave that area and return to the area where I started, and then later return to Kingsmouth to do more of the missions?

When I want to travel can I walk/run back to the spot where I entered Kingsmouth, to get back to Agartha, or do I have to ‘teleport’ there (spending currency)? I haven’t done it yet, but basically understand that I can ‘teleport’ to other areas, at a cost of Anima Shards…but if I’m not in a hurry and trying to save my currency can I just run to the gate between areas and travel that way, without using the Anima Shards?

I know these are really basic game-play questions, and things most others may well be aware of/know…but I’ve only played a few hours thus far, so have a lot to figure out yet.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

When I looked at my first post above I see my questions are each highlighted in gray box…did I inadvertently click something in the formatting without realizing it? If so, how did I cause that to happen (in case I want or don’t want to do it again in future posts?)

Thank you for your time and assistance.

For saving, in an online game it is continuously “saving”. You can never create checkpoints or anything like a single player game, but you don’t need to worry about progress saving along the way. (If you quit or disconnect in the middle of a mission, for instance, you may need to repeat some steps, but any items you picked up or used, or places you have gone, would still be the saved).

Yes, you can leave Kingsmouth and go back. Except for a very few one-time missions that have their own maps, you can go back to any area at any point in the game.

If you go back to where you first entered Kingsmouth, you will see a portal there to go back to Agartha. I don’t remember if one of the Agartha teleports is free?

On the gray boxes not sure, it’s quote boxes but if you didn’t intentionally set that I don’t know what the formatting shortcut is.

Welcome to the game. I hope you have some fun here.

First off, I have no idea how you formatted your post that way. I’m not an expert on that.

As for your questions:

You cannot “save” the game in a traditional game sense. There’s no way to go back to a previous state of the game. So whatever you do is final. Think of it as auto-saving every second without a save state you can re load.

You can leave any story zone and go back to it whenever you want. However, there are some instance (smaller one-person zones) missions that will require you to redo a few steps if you leave the instance before finishing the mission.

The spot where you entered Kingsmouth is the Anima portal for that zone. Each story zone has one where you can return to Agartha without teleporting and spending shards. Likewise the three zones in New England have connections between them that you don’t have to spend shards to use.

Looks like JLegrasse beat me to it while I was typing, but I’ll just keep my post the way it is in case it further clarifies some stuff.

Thank you both for replies and information.

The forums use Markdown to format text, so when you used > as the start of a paragraph, instead of it making it a bullet, it made it into blockquote  If you start a paragraph with a * then a space, then it will come out as a bullet here

  • like this!

Oh, also, if you’d like there’s an in-game chat you can use to ask questions. Each zone has it’s own General chat so everyone who is playing in that zone will be able to read what you type. That can be helpful if you’re stuck on a mission or something.

If you type “/chat join Sanctuary” (without the quotation marks) into your chatbox, you can ask questions in the Sanctuary chat which will reach some people all over the game who are pretty helpful. Or you can go to Agartha and ask questions in General chat there. That place is usually the most populated in the game.

You should have been given an item that unlocked the Agartha Conduit teleport, which is free to use but has a half hour cooldown.

Protip. There is such currency in game as MoF. Mark of… something. It is used for most of important things in game. You get mofs by spending real money, selling items in game and doing dailies (Shift-J). Do your dailies every day. So protip: all your first mofs should go into increasing sprint speed to sprint-IV. That will immensely improve gameplay.

I’m guessing you hit reply to me instead of to the OP by mistake. I kinda know that stuff already.

But yeah, @Celthon, what CrimsonRabbit said.

Ah, yes. I sometimes quote somebody to reply to their post and then change my mind and forget to restart reply.

Thank you for all the replies and helpful information and advice.
