Broken game ! What the hell Funcom!

AS i said i also tried connecting without mods. What helped was delete all the content of Conan on hard drive (uninstalled before from steam), deleted all i could find about conan, reinstall and now it’s working. Still sometimes i get error about when i complete challenge that challenge failed to be claimed … so after couple of tries i can claim it.

Error is: Failed to claim challenge: Defeat Humans. Please try again. If this error persist please contact customer support.

To clear out your mod list, clear both servermodlist.txt file in the directory above where the regular mod list is located and clear the modlist.txt file.

Game is pulling the server mod list file as your mod list file (not sure why) but it does.

I am not sure which mods are broken that is causing a fatal error. Although as someone mentioned Hosav is noted to be having issues. EDIT Hosav was updated today so should be fixed. I personally had to remove that mod from my servers to avoid log in issues.

EEWA and AoC I believe were not updated yet (granted, do not check consistently on those 2 since I do not use them on my servers but my friend has it on her servers). They may or may not cause crashes as well if not updated. A few other mods may have that issue if not updated, but the 48 mods I do use are either working (where its not causing a crash but maybe other issues) or they have been updated.

It’s just been updated, so far the crash on login seems to be eliminated

That is good to know. The last update I used caused issues, just hangs when trying to log in. Not a fatal crash or game looping. I will test it later this week. I must of missed the 4th update.

Our lovely OP has stated they’ve removed their mods, which means in actuality they’ve probably just created an all new issue for themselves. I’m willing to bet they removed mods, corrupted their save and now the server is cooked as a consequence of their own actions.

Or in their eyes, funcom’s because clearly it was the ghost of funcom who possessed his fingers and made him make bad choices.

I see that now. Weird my Workshop Alert did not ping on my Discord channel that monitors mod steam updates.

Hi. Just to clarify. I removed mods from server and started a completely fresh map. But problem did not disapear until i reinstalled whole game on client side. Even with fresh new start on server client did not manage to connect on the server.

Also, problems with challenges stays even with fresh installation of server and client. Sometimes it just refuse to collect the XP from challenge with an error. Happens also in single player game.

About ghost. What are you smoking? I want the same. Maybe next time ask if you aume that someone did something cuz you think he did. This is not only game server i have but it’s one of the most problematic ones.

Meh, false alarm It let me in flawlessly on the first attempt, second one still crashed the same way.
However the workaround of going into single player first and then back to the menu and online still works

I think it has to do with how it’s loaded into memory, some variable isn’t initialized yet when it’s trying to use it in the case of connecting to the server but is present in single player and it stays loaded in memory so afterwards you can connect online too. Must be annoying for him to track that down, even disabled comments on the mod

I have yet to have a connection error, but I am also not running mods. I can connect to both my private server and to public servers.

I have had the game crash and that was caused by me needing to update my graphics drivers.

Yes, that’s because currently there seems to be an issue with the steam workshop of the game, so even when you remove mods from the launcher they keep loading and don’t get uninstalled.
The same way when there’s a mod update it does not get updated until you unsub and resub to it on steam.
So it can be a real pain to update mods properly or to even get rid of them without unsubscribing on steam and doing a verify game files to refresh.

That could be just a temporary connection loss to Funcom. The battle-pass stuff is on-line even in single player and constantly synchronizes with Funcom servers to save your progress, so any tiny internet hiccup on the route to their servers can temporarily break those claim buttons.

I do. The fact that the mods worked perfectly the day before and now they show up as “corrupted”. The fact that visiting those same mods discords also state that it’s just another Funcom screw up. And let’s not forget Funcom’s history of screwed up patches.
But on that interesting note. Do you have any proof to substantiate why it is not their mess?
And As to why I threw in white knight to that poster… dude was being a white knight. Instantly jumps in to defend the besmirched honor without anything to offer… that’s a white knight.

Actually, I think that’s a bit of a misinterpretation of what actually happened…
Funcom didn’t “screw up”… from what I gathered they plugged a security hole in how the game handles mods… so mods that were not using “best practices” are now labeled as “corrupted”… and no, they’re not going to “fix it” so all the modders sitting around for a funcom fix are sadly going to be disappointed. They will most likely need to update their mods.

It does kinda suck though that yet again they did not give a reasonable heads-up time to modders that this is going to happen so the result is a bit chaotic.

Thats not how burden of proof works my dude. If you come on making accusations, burden of proof is on you not on someone else to disprove you.

You haven’t really proven anything.

Mods often break with any game thats the danger of mods. So yeah more than likely the patch broke mods. Thats par for the course.

I’m looking more for solid proof that the mods have nothing to do with breaking the game. It seems to me that they have everything to do with breaking the game if you are running them.

General word of advice to anyone running mods on any game: you run mods at the risk of the game breaking every patch. If you are a modder you already know every patch means potential work for you to bring up to date. If you are a player - run them at your own risk.

Mods are extensions to software. That works great until the software has to change. It is almost virtually impossible for extensions to stay working flawlessly on software that its built on changing. That is true in games. That is true in commercial software. That is for sure not on Funcom or any game dev studio.
