Bug Description:

When the Server Setting for “Crafting Cost Multiplier” is increased (presumably at 2.00 or higher; I discovered the bug at 2.50), the amount of “baby” pets required to craft an adult pet is also increased. When you put a single baby and the appropriate food into a pen, it will not begin automatically crafting a pet. In a full size Animal Pen, I found I needed 2 babies to begin crafting a single pet. However, a Small Animal Pen can only hold a single baby, making pet production completely impossible with this server setting. Thrall production at the Wheel of Pain does not have this problem, so I can tell this behavior is unintended. I believe that like with thralls, the Crafting Cost Multiplier should increase the amount of food needed to produce a pet but not the number of source babies. 1 baby grows up to 1 adult, right?

Bug Reproduction:

Adjust Server Setting for Crafting Cost Multiplier to 2.50. Build a Small Animal Pen. Put a baby animal and the appropriate food for it into the pen. You’ll see that nothing is added to the Crafting Queue and pet production is impossible to begin. You can also build a full Animal Pen, add 2 babies and appropriate food, and you’ll see it begin production of only a single adult. On completion, the 2 babies will be replaced by 1 adult.

I have also put together some images demonstrating the erroneous behavior, taken from a new game in singleplayer with no mods. Each image is numbered in the top-left corner, and a quick description of them is given below.

  1. The initial Server Settings when I discovered the bug, with Crafting Cost Multiplier set to 2.50.
  2. In a Small Animal Pen, a Shaleback Hatchling with plenty of Desert Berries is unable to begin production. Nothing is added to the Crafting Queue. This was my first encounter with the bug.
  3. Building a full-size Animal Pen, the same behavior is seen with nothing beginning in the Crafting Queue.
  4. Adding a second baby to the full Animal Pen immediately and automatically begins production of a single adult, seen in the Crafting Queue.
  5. I then adjusted the Crafting Cost Multiplier in the Server Settings back down to 1.00.
  6. Removing and replacing the two babies in the Animal Pen now begins two adults, the normal behavior. In the Small Animal Pen, it is also now possible to produce an adult. This isolates the problem to just the Crafting Cost Multiplier.

Finally, although not depicted here, if I lower the Crafting Cost Multiplier down to 1.00 to begin pet production, then increase the Crafting Cost Multiplier back to 2.50 while the pet in the Small Animal Pen is being produced, the pet will continue crafting in the queue until completion but no adult will spawn.

Kind regards.
