While at my VERY large main base near the Black Galleon, I tried querying the Event Log for Building System events (all others were unchecked) with Proximity at the default (1000 units) and Days Passed at the minimum (1 day). The query was taking a very long time (> 30 seconds), and I was wondering if it would just abort when I saw a messaged that I was being disconnected.
Upon returning to the server browser, the server I’m on (#1502) was no where to be seen when I queried “Officials” with names starting with “#150” (all the others from #1501 to #1509 were visible).
I contacted some other players I’m friends with on Steam, and they confirmed that they’d also been disconnected, so it wasn’t simply some sort of flood or anti-cheat protection killing my connection.The nice thing is, we both submitted server-down reports, and it was back up within a few minutes.
Upon reconnecting, we saw others starting to rejoin, and they confirmed that they too had been DC’d. Ironically, we just saw a message that the server will restart in 10 minutes, so I’m guessing that maybe it restarted on its own, whereas now gPortal must be performing a proper reboot.
Note: When I performed searches at some of my smaller bases (even ones on the same snap-grid as my main, but several grid cells away, i.e. New Asagarth), the queries completed properly without a crash. So it seems to be related to the number of building pieces within a given area…

- Visit a really huge base.
- Perform a Building System query in the Event Log
- Twiddle your thumbs
- Pale in dismay when you realize you crashed the server.
