Builders, What was/is your favorite buildings to make

I love building in this game, just wondering what everyone else has made or is planning to make. I got a lot of big ideas to make once my home base is completed.

I am rather partial to hanging bases.

I like bases that are defensible and are in tight locations (with natural walls and/or natural cliffs), forcing me to be creative with adapting to the terrain. But I don’t like “caves” as I like sunlight to come through the windows. And I don’t like single wall-high structures (feels claustrophobic). I need at least two walls-high – I need space on the inside.

So far, my favorite build location is behind the statue at the Boundary Spillway. It had one “bridge” to the main entrance (which I built over the water) with the other two “openings” closed off. Behind the statue, I could build all the way up to the top (basically fitting a skyscraper back in there). I use the RescaledExtendedBuilding mod for smaller altars and map room so that they just fit. I have not tried building with the Animal Pens though, so that’s a new challenge.

Currently, I’m experimenting with building a base at the top of Chaosmouth next to the Den with an Animal Pen underneath (all the way at the bottom of the stairway with the doorway closed off).

Welcome to the game.

I’ve built a wooden house out over the water along the starter area river with a long wooden wharf connecting it to shore and the shore-based workshops.
I like using the triangle shapes so a lot of my shore construction is curved… a large central circle with a raised platform for a table+chairs with enough space for three dancers.
I have furnaces, artisan, armour benches against the raised platform. Then the workshops in small semi-enclosed wooden octagonal buildings attached to the main circle.

I like to use a variety of building materials … such as cladding black-ice foundations in khitan walls under my Derkato alter (hint: to do this you need to put the wall first and then add the foundation. It’s a bit fussy to do but you can even get the walls to go into the ground if you build ceiling tiles around the area and drop the walls off them and then fill in the foundations)

Have a look at the Share you shelter post in the fanworks section of the forums for screenshots of amazing buildings … some only possible by using mods though.

Yeah, one wall high is unpleasant, I try and stick to 2 walls high for my builds. I hate dying though, fully rendering in a large base takes an eternity! i’m just naked trapped in my room hoping no one loots me. I am going to go check out the thread for more inspiration, thxs

I’m jealous of you good people that can build all this stuff. I struggle to make 4 walls and a floor!

lol it gets easier, i mainly do a stencil in sandstone and then upgrade to t3 if it turns out good, that way its cheap to erase the mistakes or change the design.

i wanted to build a little city ^^ but i have little time so its a very slow process and its lumped in with all my other building ideas. A lot of people building one would be fun ^^

I always have plans, it starts as a crazy idea and after a few days, when all priority things have been done, I found myself gathering resources to start the building. Now, for example, I’m finishing a Fishery and I’m planning to re-build our first asset in the dessert with T2. Anyway, you can check what was my last big project here:

My Jungle Villa

I like to build my base against cliff walls with access only through climbing up or elevators. Then I’ll connect lots of small buildings at different heights via stairs and small walkways. Granted, I do run into structural integrity issues at times.

I favor building villages.

Me: Hmm, I’d like to build a nicely organized, natural-looking village.

I usually try to build houses I’d actually want to live in, so I focus more on looks and surroundings than defensibility (which is a non-issue since I don’t play PvP anyway) and put a lot of time into interior decorating. Usually this also means having a workshop area separate from the rest of the house where all the crafting and stuff happens so as to keep things pretty.

Also usually built using the Imperial East pieces 'cause I’m Khitai 'til I die:

(I also use a lot of mod pieces.)
