I’m really glad this is overall getting positive attention from the community (well, positive in support–negative in regards to running like a dirty caveman)!
For the very few people trying to mansplain what barbarian women “should” look like… dude, the entire sword and sorcery genre is basically based around idealized, hypermasculine and hyperfeminine tropes. Men don’t really look like Conan IRL either, and real barbarians probably didn’t look like bodybuilders. It’s okay though, it’s a game. I want to be pretty in games I play without being told I “should” be running in a weird, stilted masculine way instead of being feminine. Feminine women can bash brains in too!
Depends on how feminine we’re talking. You know those Skyrim mods that make female characters strut around like they’re on a runway and run with their arms flailing around like spaghetti noodles? Can’t stand those. They’re unrealistic enough to be very immersion breaking. That kind of feminine just isn’t a brain basher. At least not in this context.
Its like as if they have new devs that are overly eager changing everything there is in the game just to proof their value. I mean, why can´t they just let stuff be like it is and work the bugs out. The new female animations su… and so does the new skill system. Its by the way the third time they changed it, every time they say its for the better, but its just getting worse.
the skill tree is “meh…” for me, the construction hammer is a pain, and when I saw animations changed…!
that’s the end for Conan exiles for me, really been playing the game since 2018, and I thought they can save it but I think that’s the final station for me here.
if they wont revert at least the animations I’m done
Good afternoon, you are absolutely right, my fighter woman does not move like before. She doesn’t look good. As long as they don’t reverse the move I won’t spend any more money on this game.
This was the main thing this game needed. Fix the bugs first, add new stuff second. And adding new stuff doesn’t necessarily mean you have to reinvent the wheel…
I totally agree on this. The old animations were elegant and smooth. The new ones just feel off especially with light weapons like daggers. “linebacker” describes it pretty well
I really hope this will be fixed. Currently it just looks broken.
I dislike the new animations when moving. We’re very stiff, like someone has a board strapped to my back.
Drawing a tool and flipping it in the air used to look good, and now it looks like I’m smacking myself in the face with a mining pick.
Left arm is locked in place while holding a shield. Again, very stiff feeling.
Left arm holding a torch while running looks good, but when walking? The old animation was better. It had more of a cautious feeling to it, like you were peering into the darkness, wary of what might be out there. Now I’m just holding a torch casually with a stick up my butt.
Don’t buy the hype here too much. It’s not great but it’s nowhere near the end of the world. Unless for some strange reason you play Conan to perv over your avatar lol.
And if you do, well, that’s what mods are for. If you want your character to walk around like she’s in stiletto heels and in front of a camera, you can do that. But don’t be surprised if the developers decide it doesn’t fit the base game.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt before, but now that you’ve made a few comments, you’re actually sounding misogynistic not to mention you’re missing the point completely.
The previous animations didn’t resemble walking around in “stiletto heels” (?? wtf have you even played as a female character before?). Like MANY have stated already… the character movement looked graceful, athletic, and strong all rolled into one. I used to compare any game I played to Conan’s for the movement animations because it just felt that good. It did not need to be changed.
I DO NOT NEED TO MOVE LIKE A MAN TO FIGHT LIKE ONE FULL STOP
This is coming from a girl gamer that has spent thousands of hours on official PVP servers, aka the base game with no mods (not like I should have to justify my opinions to you). The base game model was perfect how it was. Funcom made a mistake here.
First off, I do not need nor care for your “benefit of the doubt”. I am stating an opinion. Don’t like it. No problem as I don’t care for yours either. But feel free to slander me more simply because I do not share your OPINION. It’s quite telling of your character. Anyway, have a nice day.
Our characters don’t fight like a man or a woman. The physical power and center of gravity elements of the body do not come into play at all when fighting, at least not having any bearing on the character being male or female. Though I will agree that the female running animation is off for the female characters now.
