It’s not really a Sony thing
I have long suspected that the commonly used excuse floating around how the major blockade there is the console certifications, is not really the case and if Funcom wanted mods on console… we could have mods on console.
The real reason Funcom doesn’t want mods on console is because their basegame barely runs on it as it is… and they didn’t want to open that can of worms where twice as many people suddenly start complaining to Funcom that their game is running at 5 fps when in reality it’s their fault for installing resource-heavy mods. Like @darthphysicist pointed out above, Dennis pretty much confirmed that theory on the last Dev stream
They don’t wanna share that RAM!!! haha
That’s why I suggested a couple of times that they should have some curation process… where mod authors can submit their mods and Funcom only allows those that don’t impact the game too badly. Then at the very least we could get some of the more lightweight ones on there… still better than nothing. In any case, I don’t have my hopes up that they’ll do anything about it anytime soon…
