Cannot figure out how to dye radium gems on PS4

Steps on how to reproduce issue:

Make radium gem
Try to dye it
Item description informs you that you can but you cannot
PS4 does not have item slots

I’m a long way from my PS4 right now but if memory serves, you don’t dye the gem per se, you use the gem to make a torch then place the dye in the torch’s inventory slot.
