Uh, no, sorry, but it does indeed have something to do with politics. There’s a reason those words (beyond the obvious four letter ones) end up in the filter in the first place. And yes, it has to do with those who originally labeled themselves “woke” and now want people to believe woke is “a construction of the right” because the label has become inconvenient.

That said, you and @jmk1999 are also correct. The effects we’re seeing has more to do with lazy programming and bad algorithms and filters that were put in place in large part as a vain attempt to preemptively appease the fake outrage mobs. I think the programmers do understand that context plays a huge role in the meaning of words, but it’s so much easier for them to just block out a combination of letters than it is to parse the text looking for the context of that combination.

I also think part of that has to do with the way people have been circumventing filters for decades. Changing up the spelling and adding or removing letters and numbers, so then those combinations get added to the filter which in turn causes more false flags and people get even more creative in their circumvention. Which creates a cycle of censorship that could easily be avoided if people on all sides would just learn to let some things go.
