feedback pvp @Funcom_Community
Quem mantem e apoia geralmente é pessoal do PVEC, PVE e RP
Unfortunately, using those developer suggested settings does not restore the previous combat behavior. Previously if you swung a weapon forward, you could turn the camera and your next attack would go whatever direction your camera was positioned. This allowed one to aim their combination, surprise a flanking enemy, etc.
Most importantly, combat felt responsive and there was skill in finding your combination path. In comparison combat now feels sluggish. Combinations pass through their target (if the moveset has a lot of movement) and retraining the combination might not even be possible. This means fewer combination, fewer choices, and ultimately combat that feels sluggish and dumbed down.
Previously, in between swing aiming could yield a 180 degree turn, or directly opposite your initial attack. With the developer suggested settings, swing aiming is more like 70-90 degrees. This means if you were attempting to target soemthing directly behind your character the initial swing would go forward, the second swing to the right and the third swing directly behind you. This makes it feel sluggish.
This will also cause weapons with a wide swing arc to have an advantage in that they might make up some off the missing aiming angle.
Overall the combat is slower, less precise, and less skill based. I’m looking forward to the other content of this update, however, I hope through constructive feedback they will consider rolling this change back. Some may call me naive for such optimism, but I can tell you now that petulant funcom bashing has even less of a chance.

Agree, the new system is trash and EXTREMELY UNFUN.

Have to agree, this is awful. This isn’t fixing a bug, this is just a poor design decision. I’m all for making the game more challenging, but the absolute WORST way to ad difficulty is to take away player control/ responsiveness. Why on earth would you add a mechanic where I have to keep holding ‘W’ to make my character attack where I’m looking? What does that add to gameplay? The character should attack when my camera is pointing if I click, period.
Not only did you make character targeting terrible, you’ve made dodging certain mob attacks impossible/ pointless because they auto target better.
You’ve broken the Purge the Camels & Combat & are telling us you won’t fix it till MID JAN? really? You’re GOT to be kidding.

They say that you can change it back to the “old style” in settings.
Even so, I myself still coping with the Ban thing.
Got an alt account and can play on that account. And I must say, I am not sure the reason why so many changes were clogged up in a single update. There was no reason for that. No reason at all.
Change the content, fine, see if it works, then another “time”, change other systems.
Sure that can be done, as many bugs we have in the game are still there from ages, literally. No one seem so eager to solve them.
Plus, lets think about it:
Well, we going to launch a major content, a medium overhaul, and a change on the payment verification system, and when it is done, we are taking a vacation.
That is a nice professional schedule right there.

No. You cannot. ppl keep saying this but changing the settings does not change the combat controls to be like they were in AoW2. it’s not even close.

Yes, I figured that out, but “they say” still accurate, because they say.
But that is something, for us PC players, we can have mods to change.
The main problems are the issues nothing can change and they are not even caring to give some answer.
No matter if and how hard they are working in something, the lack of shown concern is touching.

After reading what you said, I went and checked it again, and it does. You can turn the camera and your subsequent attacks will effectively go whatever new direction the camera is pointing. I would double-check your settings, I’m guessing something is not quite right there. I think though that you do have it right too, we may just be talking about slightly different things.
That being said, it is true that no you cannot do the 180 degree combo attacks anymore. To be honest that’s a good thing, logically speaking it’s ridiculous that we could at all, there is no sense in that. However, you can do one attack in one direction, then you next attack 180 degrees, just takes a little practice. If I can do it I believe anyone can!
And I disagree with your final point: If anything, the combat is perhaps a bit harder now (though it may just be that we’re all new to the changed mechanics, leading to ‘perceived’ hardness, not actual). If so, this makes it more skill-based, not less. There are more consequences for our actions now. And combat being more dangerous is nearly always a good thing. It should be a dangerous land.
What I am curious about is what bug/exploit the combat changes were done, in-part at least, to address.
However, all that being said it is very early days. I will save judgement for in a couple of weeks/month when I’ve given myself reasonable time to get use to the new system, and the system itself a fair chance.

I’m a console player so this wasn’t as noticable as first for me. However after a few combos it definitely starting taking its toll. At this time, I would say I prefer chapter 2’s combat. However I probably start getting used to it soon enough. I have been experimenting with the r3 lock function and if I can include it in my combat muscle memory, I’ll be good to go.

Solution:
Settings->Gameplay->Rotatable Stationary Camera->Uncheck->Enjoy

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. Logically, you can attack in a 180 degree plane by doing so laterally, something the game doesn’t allow which would be ‘logical’ if did.
I’ll also disagree that this change increases the skill level in play. Reducing options and requiring more of a rigid pattern, takes less skill than having more options and decisions.
With only a little PvP and PvE done under the changes I feel fairly confident in my stated opinion of the changes, however, I’m in agreement with you that these are still the early days and more testing is needed to form final opinions.
Maybe one of us will come around to the other’s view in time.

It’s exactly this. Recent Conan updates are like Windows or Android updates, you know it’s going to ruin your experience.
And it’s not even venting or anything like that. The game is becoming worse from our perspective and we are starting to spend less time playing it, they are removing and changing things that were fun.
Honestly I’d be more happy if AoS and AoW did not come and game stayed as it was. It had been more engaging for me back then. These days I can’t play Conan as at every single action I make I keep thinking “it’s so ruined now, this was so much better before, wow this is not as much fun as it used to be” etc…
And I know you guys are the same.

Yes “turn to attack”.
Not “instantly attack as it has been before for 5 years”
This is the actual change and nerf to combat.

I thought about that the other day. I understand how skill will change. It is quite implicit.
As a solo, I welcome lot of these change in ch3. Now we have a huge complex to try to simplify into stone rubble that you can mine.
…jjust thinking
I started this game before leveling thralls were implemented. I think it is good. I watched the patterns of Funcom and it looks promising, especially after Den’s talk.
Don’t expect the devs to translate code to english (or other traditional language). That is one thing that makes the game big and takes longer to develop.
Now, I see fighters that patroll an area (not just back and forth). Looks like a worthy challenge… with an upgrade to A.I… hmmm?
I will, once again, say I wish we could go back to AoS combat. No infinite dodge, no weird stamina cost, no perma-stunned, no enemies tracking you as if they can read your mind and completely ignore physics to spin mid-swing.
Combat was in an all-around better place back before AoW and I can’t help but think this age would have gone so much smoother and actually been exciting if they focused on the new stuff and didn’t try to reinvent the wheel every quarter.

I play on official PVE-C servers. The new system feels very awkward. I turned off the rotatable stationary camera under Setting/Gameplay and that helped with farming where I can look at nearby stones and farm them without using WASD to change my direction but then my camera view is always looking over my shoulder and I can not quickly look around for trouble while I farm. It’s odd. So I have turned the rotatable stationary camera back on. I’m still not happy with it. And it seems like this wasn’t a problem before so why did FUNCOM “fixed it”?

It would genuinely take less effort on Funcom’s part to just NOT implement these bad changes. They’re building the entire game around the floor-height skill level of a single developer and taking zero community feedback into account while they do.

Hmm
I agree we need to redo bad changes. I read old code and get the gist of it first. That is when others should debate about it. Sometimes all I see on these forums is the regulars being regular – arguing over sci-fi?
And official server (with an arena) needs to be set aside for cross-play. If it is good in one timezone, then start making the wish list.
Try playing heavy if you don’t already. The most dramatic changes don’t seem to touch heavies. That may be even more true as live and test releases are made. I’m not jealous (of those in light armor and max encumbrance). They demand realism… yet carrying everything is as real as you can get?
Now I’m back to thinking solo on the new fortress. If it truly respawns fast, it might not be my type. Why win a battle when a solo can’t even carry treasure (fast enough). Will have to run back and forth between base and fortress. Lots of work!

The new facing setting also made resource collection worse. What a completely unnecessary and harmful change.
