Look at it simply.
Admin looks at two reports for the day. One is of cheating. One is of claim spam.
The report of cheating shows a screenshot of someone speed hacking. Screenshot is a still image. Which is useless. Its effectively he-said, she-said. Maybe there will be some grainy video taken with a phone. Maybe. If so it might show someone with a bad connection. Could it be lag switch? Could it be Comcast? Who knows. Without definitive evidence, its hard to tell. Maybe… just maybe you can login to check and see the person in action.
But the report of a claim spam. Ok… coordinates are bad, location is bad. But at least the screenshot gives the admins ‘something’ to work with so they go about where they think it is. So they go to the location and can see the issue. They issue the ban right then and there.
That’s why you are seeing claim get banned quicker. The claim is there on the server whether the person is logged in or not. When investigating a cheater it takes a bit longer because chances are they aren’t online when the admin is checking them out. They have to file a case on the person and see if repeat reports come in on them, or if better evidence is had.
9 times out of 10, the evidence sucks. Sorry it does. In fits of frustration, time and effort goes out the window when it comes to collecting evidence and most times, the evidence is probably even omitted on accident (those of you who can file a report in under 45 seconds know who you are). Most players don’t know how to take a screenshot at decent angles, or record video properly or in a decent enough quality to see what is going on. My favorite is when players send in self-incriminating evidence. Just because you’re a dirt bag that sent in a report ‘first’ doesn’t mean your own stuff doesn’t stink. So if you’re going to report someone near your base, make sure your base isn’t claim spamming or whatever. Because admins will act on unreported infractions they see.
