That looks almost like in those veeery old trailers from 2007 or 2006 where a similar battle in some conalls valley-like took place with lots of people
On rare occasions you’ll find them fighting the Half-Giant. Sometimes you’ll encounter it halfway up the valley which can be a shock at low level. Always felt like an unfinished/unused quest or a broken scripted event.
This battle climaxed with a server crash. 
Just curious which server? I went through there in Crom earlier today and didn’t see anything weird in Conalls.
Ah yeah the Halfgiant Boss. Haven’t seen him in years. Guess he is always killed by achievement hunters these days.
I killed the boss attacking the village a couple of time, it doesn’t give any achievment. Talking with other players, we had the impression he spawned only in a specific moment of the year, around septmber/october. As Tura said, it could be the “relic” of some quest (maybe an event one?) or an unfinished content.
