Does anybody else feel like Greataxes just got a huge debuff?

They no longer cleave (and deal damage) through shields? If I’m fighting a 1v1 and the enemy raises a shield, they take no damage even to a Greataxe. If the enemy has Shield Master, I guess that’s just a straight up damage cancel now since kicks also can’t break through when that perk is used.

Greataxes were the workaround for turtles… Why take that ability away from the one standard weapon that could counter shields? Glutton+Fast Healer+Shield Master are a bit ridiculous in this state since everything can be blocked. I know you can use certain AOEs like orbs and arrows, but that means taking another slot away from an already slightly limited weapon spread. After some attacks Glutton+Fast Healer would just overheal through the AOE’s damage as well. What the heck?

I don’t care about the conjunction of those perks so much, but why take the cleave-damage away from the greataxes? If cutting through shields was unintended before. it’s an oversight that until now, has benefitted the game.

I request that this change be reverted.

If anybody has some positives from this other that the shield got a buff, I’d be happy to hear. I suppose Crushing Swings is now a better perk overall.
