The game crashed, I restarted and my character was dead beyond the play area, impossible to recover my stuff, playing for hours to lose everything is tiring after a while..

That’s exactly it, but it happened when the game froze, I just had time to relaunch and I found myself dead and very far from where I was

Day one player here a bit over ten thousand hours I have seen some crazy things happen and yet still keep playing. Even in god mode on my private server the wall will kill you. Game glitch or freeze probably sent you across the wall. The thing is to keep at it and enjoy yourself even when frustrating

Not that this helps now but perhaps in the future:
If you have died behind the green wall and can see your corpse and assuming the items are still on it, watch and wait. Eventually your body will turn into a loot bag. Whip out your building hammer and select something long, like a fence foundation. Carefully move it to behind the bag and then slowly drag it through the green wall. Then you should be able to access it.
You can practice this by dumping anything on the ground and playing with the bag.
