Same here — I’m also waiting on my reports and hoping for a response soon. Fingers crossed for all of us.![]()
Yes, with 15 players on a server, it would start to become unstable.
This is consistent for years now.
Despite this- the game is running way faster and smoother especially on loading times.
Worth remembering that, at the moment, there are around 6 times as many players as the average for the past few years. That’s a lot more people all trying to play on the same rubbish Gportal hardware. In singleplayer, as you say, performace seems better than before. On servers, however, it’s all a bit of a nightmare right now.
Oh i know, im staring at 9999 ping for two days for officials.
So i cant give any feedback about officials at all.
You’re doing more than unfuncom has been doing for years. They should give you admin rights on all their servers.
Absolutely, a thought that would have crossed any decent businesses mind prior to launching something like this.
Issue is this.
Funcom just launches games designed to hype up interest, fleece people & then watch things dwindle while they move to their next project.
If they can make some money with a few DLC’s for a $5 or $10 table set from the stragglers, they will leave a dev or two to make that happen.
But to actually invest in servers & maintence over the long term…
They have no intention. They pay G-Portal that has a business model designed to absorb huge amounts of players for brief periods at launch before swapping the same servers to different games after the previous one fades away.
There are actually nice servers that could handle this & give us all great ping & higher player numbers that they could operate in house long term.
They just don’t want to deal with it.
Which sucks.
I want to reinforce the position I mentioned earlier this morning because the situation is becoming increasingly difficult for many of us in the community.
At the moment, playing is becoming nearly impossible due to constant latency spikes and severe instability issues. Ping values are frequently jumping from 300–400 ms, and in many cases even higher. We are experiencing:
-
Infinite loading screens while connecting
-
“Connection Failed” errors
-
Constant disconnects while already logged into the server
-
Delayed animations and desynchronized combat
-
Ping spikes ranging from normal values (50–60 ms) up to 900+ ms suddenly
-
Rollbacks and rubberbanding during gameplay
There are also ongoing reports of cheaters on official servers openly mocking the situation, claiming how easy it is to access game folders/configurations and modify files to gain unfair advantages.
Another major concern repeatedly mentioned by the community is the possibility of malicious users obtaining server IPs through exposed game-related files and using them for targeted DDoS-like attacks. Whether intentional attacks or severe infrastructure vulnerabilities, the current state is extremely damaging to the player experience.
This issue is no longer isolated.
Even large and respected community creators are now publicly talking about the instability. This video from a long-time streamer who has consistently supported and promoted the game throughout the years shows how serious the current situation has become:
YouTube Video - Conan Exiles Server Issues Discussion
What the community needs right now is not only beautiful promotional content or updates about visuals.
We urgently need:
-
An official statement from Funcom regarding server instability
-
Clear communication about anti-cheat actions
-
Information about protections against attacks and exploits
-
Transparency about ongoing fixes and server-side improvements
A simple official video, announcement, or status update would already reduce a huge amount of tension within the community and give players hope that the situation is actively being addressed.
I truly love this game, just like many people here do. That is exactly why I am worried. The game is currently experiencing strong hype and player engagement, but without proper care regarding stability, security, and cheating, it risks losing players very quickly — and I genuinely do not want to see that happen.
To everyone participating in this thread:
Please continue sharing your errors, screenshots, logs, videos, and experiences here. The more documented reports we gather in one place, the greater the chance this reaches the Funcom Forums administrators and the responsible teams.
We want the game to succeed — but right now, these issues need urgent attention.
To be honest the lag issue is something emhanced brought over from ue4 CE,
At any time servers became a problem woth 12+ platers on simultaneously.
I have hopes the new devs will fix the issue , but something tells me that it is gportal …
At least we kbow they are looking into this…
Lets hope for the Best
CE reverts to steam (no message) not running after the preloader in 30 sec, open firewall, BE running.
My PC exeeds these specs imo:
Unreal Engine 5 minimum requirements on Windows
Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD 2.5 GHz or superior
Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics Card: Any DirectX 11 or 12 compatible card
Im at Win10x64, 6 core AMD 1100 @ 3200, 32gb ,current ssd. Gforce RTX 4060 with Current drivers. DX12 is present, says dxdiag.
I always played CE @ ultra.
What am i missing please hint.
[EDIT]
Downloaded (Steam Shop, free) EzBench Benchmark
(States to be UE5 bench)
That does run oke. I can run All resolutions. 1080,1440,2560
(note its a wait for it..(black screen nothing)..to run first time don’t cancel!)
Any info in relation to CE with this info?
Maybe Funcom should consider to move away from gportal to AWS, as they have DUNE on afaik. Also until then or if not happens, reduce the server population cap to maxim 20 players & release way more FRESH SERVERS.
I’m running my own server using an old machine and its working fine (dual Xeon 5218 server).
The machine is using a static public IP address (no NAT).
It’s running behind a firewall (GeoIP, DNS Blacklist, Snort) which protects it from idiots.
Connection from outside only to required ports, RCON has IP ACL.
Launcher version is 1.91 and no mods atm, password for login is required.
I can play for hours without any issues (low server population).
Server OS Windows 10 Pro
Client OS Windows 10 IoT with 3090 using latest NV drivers
You’re right 100%. You clearly explained it all with precise observations and description of most players’ needs and expectations.
Before the update got out, I foretold every aspects of the current situation. No point of saying why it was obvious to me as hopefully it was, and is, to most.
I salute the effort you’re putting into this and highly hope that, this time, it will change something.
Cheers.
I agree with you 100%!
A lot of people’s characters didn’t transfer/migrate over as well. Just wiped. Or even other people got their characters (how do you even fk up that bad?), some of my teammates told me they might of lost dlc content. Has Funcom even addressed these immediate issues?
Looking at it from a different perspective, if the servers were fine and players could get in, may be the numbers would been higher? Just wondering.
Hopefully the issue is analyzed from different perspectives and a good solution is found to this server issue sooner than later. Longer the issue persists, more are going to leave…
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who contributed comments, reports, and examples in this thread. The purpose of this topic is clear: to bring real visibility to the current issues, so this forum can effectively support fixes and meaningful improvements.
Based on the shared reports and evidence (forum topics, screenshots, and firsthand experiences), it is clear these issues are not isolated. They affect both official and private servers, across PVE and PVP environments.
Consolidated critical points
-
Undermesh bases:
It has become clear that undermesh bases are possible in virtually all areas, which is extremely harmful to the game. This directly affects competitiveness, base security, and overall multiplayer integrity. -
Incomplete character migration:
Another major issue reported by the community is incomplete character migration after the engine transition. Many players never had their characters properly migrated despite previous assurances from Funcom that the transfer process would work correctly. For affected players, this represents the loss of years of progression, items, levels, and server history. -
Hackers and exploits:
There are consistent reports of hackers killing thralls, looting entire bases, and bypassing protection systems, including on PVE servers. This results in total progression loss and constant insecurity for players. -
Severe server instability (official and private):
Extreme lag, ping spikes, rollbacks, action desynchronization (hits, NPC interactions, chests), long queues, and frequent disconnects remain ongoing problems. -
Two massive maps with a 40‑player cap:
Having two huge maps running together with a 40‑player limit is already very demanding.
Increasing this to 80 players would make sense in theory, but with the current instability, it would likely result in constant server outages. Performance and stabilization must come first. -
Hosting concerns (GPortal):
There is growing dissatisfaction with GPortal’s current performance, which appears unable to handle the game’s load properly. This negatively impacts gameplay and external visibility.
Impact on the community and content creation
At the moment, content creators and streamers are hesitant to showcase the game. Many want to:
-
Record raids
-
Explore the world
-
Play PVE and PVP servers for content
However, the constant risk of hackers, combined with heavy lag, rollbacks, and instability, makes it unviable to promote the game. Losing a base live or dealing with extreme desync sends the wrong message, even if the game itself is excellent.
Communication and feedback
The community is actively reporting issues, but:
-
Responses are mostly automated
-
There is little clarity on whether reports are reviewed
-
Many players report similar experiences dating back to earlier phases (EU4), with months of no follow‑up
This highlights the need for stronger and clearer communication, such as:
-
Official statements on ongoing investigations
-
Clear priorities and next steps
-
Regular progress updates or patch notes focused on fixes
The player base is growing after the new update, but many are forced into offline co‑op or single-player due to severe online latency, which damages trust in multiplayer.
Final note
This thread is not an attack — it is a structured and collective request.
The community wants reassurance that:
-
Issues are being seen
-
Investigations are underway
-
There is a clear path forward
You have a great game in your hands. The graphical upgrade was an important milestone. Now the priority must be stability, security, and communication, so players can confidently return to and promote the online experience.
you forgot incomplete character migration. A lot of people never had their characters migrate over to the new engine despite assurances otherwise by funcom.
Thank you and it has been adjusted
I have been trying to log in like 30mins .. still higher ping than 300.. cant login..and also it takes at least 5 min to load my inventory and storages whenever i transport to my base.
