Conan Exiles Dedicated Server Launcher (Official Version: 1.7.5 / Beta: 1.7.7)

Good, sorry for the confusion

I apologize for the late reply, long story short, I was able to launch & run the server in the laptop after checking the tooltip of the launcher (I was port forwarding only UDP :o), but on the desktop PC, it was still all red.
It was the same even after disabling Windows Firewall, but somehow subscribing to Norton and changing firewall setting there did the trick. Now it is clear and all green.

Ok, so the good old “antivirus deciding to break things”

When I click the start button in the launcher app, it starts going but then the server shuts down itself with error log of “LogServerStats:Error: ServerStatReporter: Failed to find address and port, NetDriver is null”.

Well, for that one, I need you to send me the complete server log file, because without the context, the only thing this lines tells me is that “well, that did not work”, which is not super helpful

SteamCMD error Question for you people. :bulb:

There’s been an issue in this tool where sometimes it would fail with an error message:

‘\src\common\contentmanifest.cpp (650) : Assertion Failed: !m_bIsFinalized’

at this point SteamCMD stops updating, it just output errors after errors, until it gets reinstalled or some manual cleaning/deleting of files like the appmanifest for the project. :sob:

I know it has happened to me once last year, and also to @Nahso, @Piankhi, @RexChiller and @Darkbibou in the past, but that was more than 6 months ago, since then I had not seen any other report…

…but apparently it just happened to @Justice this week, so apparently this issue is still happening.

So my question to everybody here are:

  • Have you ever had this problem?
  • If it happened, were you able to fix it (how) or did you reinstall everything?
  • Has it happened recently?

Thanks

It has been a long time since I looked into that error, but lets see. It started for me July 27, 2018, and lasted until February 5, 2019. The update would always still work, I would just get that error ~55 times in a row (consistently) for a single mod update.

Between one server/mod update and the next… I don’t really remember what happened back then. I don’t know if steamcmd was updated, or the problem just vanished on its own. I don’t think I did anything myself to stop it. From what little I do remember, people in ARK had this problem too, and it was just a Steam problem we could ignore until Valve/Steam fixed it.

Has never happened to me with any iteration of the launcher.

Running a 3ghz i3 with 16GB Ram, files located on a Samsung SSD in a recycled dell workstation.

Hi Toolguy, thank you so so so so much for your help!!!
I opened different port like you advised (and closed everything that I previously tried), and was finally able to launch the server!!!

You really saved me here, I really (I mean REALLY!!) appreciate you! :tada: :tada: :tada:

Glad that worked

what does this message mean in your software ?

How to do resaving package to fix it ?

Sorry, I can’t answer to any question related to game messages, this is for the Conan Exiles support team, this forum thread is exclusively for Dedicated Server Launcher related questions.

For the ones among you using version 1.3.1, do you think it is good enough to be the new official version as a replacement for 1.2.5

have been running it since release and had no problems so far.

the problem with the max client count reset was solved after a complete restart of the server

I’ve been using it for my Siptah server and haven’t had any performance/stability issues (other than the whole “can only connect with direct connect” fiasco). Actually…I’d venture to say the Siptah server runs better than my EL server that runs 1.2.5 even though I doubt that’s the reason for it.

I started with 1.3.1 and it seems perfectly fine. Every problem I had turned out to be user error.

If anything, the documentation might need some polishing.

this message is displayed on the Conan Exiles Dedicated Server Launcher, is this really with the other support team?

Is is the Server Log content displayed in the Launcher for your comfort, it’s not generated by the Launcher, it’s just the content of what is in the Saved/Log folder.

Sounds good, thanks

Hopefully we will find a better solution that works on the long run!

Probably not related, I don’t remember having added some awesome optimisation between 1.2.5 and 1.3.1

Yeah the documentation is like the tool, it has grown organically, do you have suggestions of what I could do to the documentation that would make it easier to use, or possibly some out of date stuff, etc…?

Can you tell me whats the problem here ?

As @drachenfeles said, these are not errors, they are statistics sent to a monitoring server which checks which servers are running, with how many players, and the associated memory/cpu usage.

This is used to figure out if for example a code change in a new version of the game ends up gobbling up more memory or crashing more often.

Hi all,

I have installed the dedicated server on a separate computer on my network, I have opened ports on my router, added inbound rules in my firewall but the three ports 7777, 7778 and 27015 are still in red in my control panel. The server is up and running, I can see it in the list of servers available but I can’t connect to it. The password works but after that, the game keeps on loading until it displays an error message (time out).

I have a bunch of errors in the console but they don’t look related:

Do you have any idea of what I should do to make this work?

Thanks!

First, one important thing: If you don’t get the green light, don’t even bother continuing: The server will not be usable.

Second, if you are planning to use the Conan Exiles game client on the same machine, then you will have conflicts because the client uses 7777, 7778 also by default, so for the server you should use something else like 7780, 7781, for example.

I have opened ports on my router

By open, you mean “open” or do you mean “forwarded”?

Open is just a firewall thing, it says that outside information is accepted instead of rejected, it’s like telling the bouncer at the entrance of the club that “yeah, you can enter”, but that’s only one part of it, this information need to reach the right machine, and that’s the “forwarding” part (to continue on the metaphor it’s like “go in the third room on the left in the corridor on the first floor”).

For a proper forwarding, you need to:

  • Have an ISP/modem that actually support port forwarding - some internet service providers infrastructure make that impossible.
  • Write down the Mac/Hardware address of your server (you can see that on the Dedicated Server Launcher just above “Test Port Accessibility” with a “copy” button so you don’t have to actually copy it manually.
  • On your router, give a fixed/static IP to your server so it does not change when you reboot, but disabling DHCP for this Mac/Hardware address.
  • Then you need to forward the three first ports (Game Port, Raw Port, Steam Port) to this fixed IP, for BOTH UDP and TCP.

At this point, if the Test Port still does not work, I suggest to temporarily shut down all the firewalls and anti-virus (on the server, on the router, on the modem if you have one, …), see if that works. If it does work, it means that one of these is wrecking havoc, so enable them back one by one until it stops working, which means you found the one causing problem → investigate the settings, and make sure both the Game Server and the Server Launcher are being allowed.

That’s about all I can say, until you get green light it’s pointless to try to run the server

Hi Toolguy,

Thanks!

I’m running the server on a different machine, in fact it doesn’t do anything else than running the server for Conan Exiles.

This machine has a fixed IP, it’s on the same network as the computer I’m using to play.

Yes I meant port forwarding, I have created two separate entries, one for UDP and the corresponding ports and another one for TCP with the corresponding range. Should I open all the ports on UDP and TCP? Port forwarding is only set for the fixed IP of the server, I guess I don’t need to open it on all internal IPs? I have also created inbound rules on the firewall + I also allowed the server application to communicate with the external world, I have also tried to switch off the firewall but it didn’t help.

Thanks!
