First time I installed 1.7.2 Installed at

E:\ Exilesserver

Second time

I used the Steam CMD Download for the CMD Steam Community :: Guide :: Dedicated Server Setup This is what the steamcmd.zip is. (Maybe that thread needs to be closed or deleted?)

I have looked for the store errors I cannot find the lines, so either they were cleaned up or those where in the files I deleted.

Server password I have one the light is yellow. So, thinking I need to change it from what you posted. And yes, I know not having one anyone can join.

I have Admin Password also; the light is red (maybe I need to make that longer if I allow the server to be public.) right now it will be private on my system.

No Mods1 - I am not using Modsl Just the base game.
(I was telling what color the lights where.)

As for the update I was reading this Thread, but if the DSL updates on its own that is great.
The first post was a bit confusing for me at first.

First time I have seen the official page.

But You did not say anything about what to change the ports too so the second account would be able to connect.

Thank you Toolguy

edit: forgot to add these.

That’s the part you need to fix: As long as the port testing is not working, the server will not be able to run.
(I assume you are not running the game client on the same machine at the same time)

To make it work, you need “port forwarding”, and this depends of which modem and internet service provider (ISP) you are using.

you assumed wrong, it is on the same system. It has 32 rams, and the game folder is on a 2t drive. I figured that would be ok.

modem is a [Saxivis] I did call the provider they forwarded the ports for me.

I am assuming the external port is the ip address?

Ok I have red lights now, smiley:

also thinking I need to do something in windows defender.
Or I put something wrong in the External port or the internal port. Or the protocol is wrong.

Edited:

Now that my eyes are rested. I relooked at things. If this is because Everything is on the same machine, then I will have to wait till I can find a mother board for my older system. I thought it would be ok with it just being me logging in as I rebuild things.

I found these lines that look wrong to me. Plus, I found the error for the store. How ever it was at the start of the log rather than at the end. It did clean itself up.

If the client and server are on the same machine, and the machine is powerful enough, then you need to make sure that you change the ports to something else, because the client uses the same ports by default.

System Details Win 11, 12th Gen Intel I7-12700f, Nividia Geforce RTX 3060, 32gb mem, 1Tb/ssd / 2tb HHd / 16 Gb storage. I think that is powerful enough. My question is changing the ports to what? what is the range I need to change I need to change the ports too.

ok found this in the main post

so instead of the default 7777, 7778 and 27015 you may want to try to change the server to use 7779, 7780 and 27016 (with obviously the proper port forwarding rules on your router)

How ever in the router program it has
External Port
Internal Port
I do not understand this.

Also looking at the ports all the files are associated with an exe file. like this

E:\steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\Launcher\FuncomLauncher.exe

C:\xboxgames\conanexiles\content\windowsnoeditor\conansandbox\binaries\win64\conansandboxms.exe

E:\exilesserver\dedicatedserverlauncher1702 (1).exe

(E:\steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles Dedicated server\ConanSandboxServer.exe Do I need this server installed or can I delete it?)

Thank you for helping me. It is scary when you remember parts of a procedure, yet knowing much has changed in 20 years.

Update: both accounts were able to log in direct connect. However, I am not sure where the game files are. It started a new game.

Edited: I found the server files, am able to log in direct connect. This getting the information from Steam/ Server view

It still isn’t working right. The ports are still red. Thinking they should be green. I have to use direct connect to connect to it.

in the modem program

example:

Assignment name 7777
external Port 7777
internal port 7779
protocol TCP+UDP

I have done this for ports 7777, 7778, 27015, 7780.

The only one grayed out in the launcher now is the Raw UDP Port 7778

In the server launcher it is listed for the one account - Age is??? Ping is 9999
Lv 60

Could you share a screnshot of the entire DSL UI, as well as a screenshot of your modem port assignment page ?

As long as ports are red, don’t try to connect to the server, they need to be green.

After port are properly set-up, because of issues in the Conan Exiles Server, it is still possible that:

  • The server runs fine by appears as ping 9999
  • Local users on the network have to direct connect with the local IP

for my service provider? Sadly, I do not think so. It is an app on my phone. Well, if it downloads to my computer. I found a Download that says it will install.

For the launcher yes.

The App for the router will not download to my system. So that answer it no. I can only give then Infor as I did above.

Edit

But it looks like this.

When you go to add one it looks like this. (it was free hand so it’s not perfect
portassignment
This I do not totally understand.

looking at my settings they are default right now.

And when I test the Ports, I get this.

I have green Lights for game, raw, and source ports!! That was so easy. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

The web page port is still red.

I’m confused (and the fact you don’t put any formatting to distinguish what you wrote from what you changed later from what you found somewhere else is not helping, at least try to use > to quote)

you assumed wrong, it is on the same system. It has 32 rams, and the game folder is on a 2t drive. I figured that would be ok.

You said you were planning to use the game client on the same machine, but I see you are still using the default ports.

so instead of the default 7777, 7778 and 27015 you may want to try to change the server to use 7779, 7780 and 27016 (with obviously the proper port forwarding rules on your router)

If you run the client on the same machine, the client will use the ports for itself, so you need different ports for the server, you can’t keep 7777/7778/27015

You need to edit the values in the DSL interface to other values than defaults, and then, you must also have the port forwarding for these ports using these new values.

Also looking at the ports all the files are associated with an exe file. like this
E:\steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\Launcher\FuncomLauncher.exe

Not sure what the Exiles game client launcher has to do with the server?

Ports are only associated with an executable (in Windows at least) for the Firewall, to allow a program to use a port or not.

Port forwarding does not care about the executable, it just re-route some port on some side (internet) to some other port on the other side (your local network) to a specific network card identified by its IP address or MAC address.

modem is a [Saxivis] I did call the provider they forwarded the ports for me.

You mean “SAX1V1S”?

I assume your hand made screenshots were the equivalent of that?

And when I test the Ports, I get this.

I don’t understand how you can get this “Couldn’t start (server path)” when clicking on the test ports, you are supposed to get something like that:

image

or

So, what’s the current status?

To make things easier for me, here is what I suggest for the support messages when answering, quoting and editing your messages:

  • use > to quote other people or bits of documentation
  • when you manage to fix something, add a UPDATE in bold or italics over the original question and strike out the error (you can use < s> and < /s> to do that.
  • use three dashes — to insert separators if you have multiple sections

Basically, the easier it is for me to actually know what the problem is, the more chances you get an answer. When I get a wall of text where it’s impossible to know what is a question, an answer, a quote or an update, I have no idea what to look at.

Example:

Try to do this and that, and if that does not work, do this other thing

Update: I change this to that, now it’s working
I tried to do this, and that, and this other thing, but that did not work.

that’s easier for me to follow than that:

Try to do this and that, and if that does not work, do this other thing

I tried to do this, and that, and this other thing, but that did not work.
Update: I change this to that, now it’s working

my apologies, I will keep this in mind. Didn’t mean to frustrate you. the server is up and running all green lights.

I must have missed a setting somewhere in the forums as I don’t see or know how to strike items out.

Thank You for your help and patience, hope you have a Blessed Day!

Hey, can you help me please? When the Livestream starts?

So, I did some hunting after one of my friends reported the IP flipping once I installed a new Multi-WAN router, and I’ve made a couple discoveries in regards to this. Somewhat surprisingly, this is the only instance of this on the internet google can find so I’m replying to your post since you wanted information in regards to the original person (even though they seemed to have solved their issue).

The game server reaches out to 37.181.192.124 on port 443 and 167.99.196.206 on port 80, both of which appear to be related to funcom in some regard (based on the SSL cert for the first or what comes up on the site on the second). I’ve not captured exactly why it reaches out to those, I’m guessing as part of an API POST but I’ve not yet needed to resort to packet capturing to figure this out. Anyways…

In order to get Mutli-WAN not obnoxiously reporting different Mutli-WAN IPs every few minutes, I had to add additional policy routing rules to my router to force outbound traffic from my game server to not just route the standard ports (Game Client, Raw UDP, & Source Query Ports) to one particular gateway, but also route traffic heading to 37.18.192.124 on port 443 (HTTPS) and 167.99.196.206 on port 80 (HTTP) along the same gateway rules as the other ports.

Once those additional two routing policies for those random IPs & ports were added, it’s quite stably followed the expected gateway tiers I have setup (failover, if you’re curious–I’ve made a separate gateway group just for this game… :face_with_diagonal_mouth: ), and sticking to the preferred gateway’s IP address.

Based on how often IPs can flip, it looks like it checks it’s own IP every 10 minutes, which is far past how long most firewalls will track a session, and since this is outside the regular traffic ports the firewall sees it as a new session and assigns it to a gateway according to it’s internal rules–most multi-WAN routers will default to either random (like mine, since my gateways are considered equal) or load balancing to the most available (if a user has configured bandwidth information for each).

Note, I have no idea what happens if the IP switches while someone is connected–that depends on a lot of things that are probably outside the scope of what I’m reporting here.

Can you help me with the Port Forwarding steps? Literally cannot creat a server :frowning: . I created 2 Port Forwarding on my ZTE. One for Server and one for Steam.

These are the setup for the server and the Steam one:
Name: ConanExiles (Steam)
Protocol: TCP and UDP
WAN Connection: Auto
WAN Host IP Address: 172.252.x.x ~ 172.252.x.x
LAN host: 192.168.1.9
WAN port: 7779 ~ 7780 ( 27016 ~ 27016 for Steam )
LAN host port: 7779 ~ 7780 ( 27016 ~ 27016 for Steam )

Both said: Your data has been stored.

But when I setup the Game Clien Port = 7779 , RAW UDP Port = 7780, Source Query Port = 27016 then I press “Test Port Accessibility” . It came back with red lights and the report said: “The testing of the port was not successful” for 3 things above.

Hope you or someone could help me. My friends and I are devastated if we keep on playing on Coop mode because we all come from different countries.
:frowning:

Maybe this helps:

In addition to what @darthphysicist wrote, I would also check that:

  • your ISP actually does support/allow port forwarding, some companies are grouping multiple users behind the same external IP, this type of setup does not work with port forwarding, but in general you can ask the company
  • try to disable both your firewall and your antivirus to see if they are not interfering with the port test
  • when port forwarding make sure to fix the IP to the mac/hardware address, because else if you start and stop the server, it may get a new IP from the server, in which case the port forwarding rules may break

The post you answered was actually about the DSL tool itself flip-flopping, the reason was that the ping/ip check was not bound to the selected network device, so it would use whatever windows had switched to, resulting in a different address reported each time.

The only issue with the game server I know of, is that when using a local computer, using the external IP would generally fail, forcing the users to do direct connect with the local IP of the server.

It’s a bit messy! :scream_cat:

I’ve no idea what 37.18.192.124 is (seems to point to game-hosting.com), but 167.99.196.206 points to a webserver used by the DSL to check the external IP as well as doing the udp/tcp port check.

#define NETWORK_EXTERNAL_IP_CHECK_URL “http://167.99.196.206/ip.php” ///< This should point to a web page that returns the external IP of the requested (ex: 195.110.29.28) without any other information
#define NETWORK_UDP_PORT_CHECK_URL “http://167.99.196.206/udp.php” ///< This should point to a web page that accepts a ‘port’ parameter and use it to send back the ‘PONG’ message on the specified UDP port
#define NETWORK_TCP_PORT_CHECK_URL “http://167.99.196.206/tcp.php” ///< This should point to a web page that accepts a ‘port’ parameter and use it to send back the ‘PONG’ message on the specified TCP port
