it was a bit better today, but still lots of lag. makes it hard to fight npc’s as they are bouncing all over.
You need to do at least two things: First, the IP and port of one’s favorite servers no longer shows on game.ini (or anywhere for that matter), so we cannot try to join servers that are experiencing funcom issues.
Second, you should disable ping limit on server join because its very difficult to join if servers are having as many issues with those random latencies.
For me, its a priorty issue even though just a cosmetic one. Many players play to build in this game and even this tiny difference is enough to deter them from using the pieces (including myself). I wouldn’t classify it as a “minor” that gets pushed to a backlog and isn’t looked at for years.
It’s not just this instance, there are more cases where the new changes have alterted the visuals making items look way different. Positive in most cases, but there are edge cases that we as the community should point out so Infexion can take a look at them and resolve as they see fit.
Yeah, me terming it as ‘minor’ was a mistake, my bad. (I guess I was thinking by comparison to the whole ‘servers not working’ mess at the moment.) You are correct, it is a ‘bug’, not a ‘minor bug’ (and it’ll probably annoy me a lot when I get back up to t3 materials, since Argossean is a set I like to use).
Yeah, I’ve spotted a few other such changes, and mostly they’re good like you say, but it’s always worth us pointing out the one’s where it hasn’t worked so well, especially if, like this case, they don’t match up properly.
Pretty much sums it up: everything that could be flagged already got hammered during testing: building pieces, HUD, weapons/armor, lighting… nothing new popped up after launch.
At the end of the day, looks like either there wasn’t time to tweak it, or it’s just not gonna change.
Honestly I’d just like them to focus on the server performance at this stage; the game plays great locally, but i always play this on officials and right now its just a horrible experience - Also i don’t think living settlements being on is helping, nor is it “safe” on official’s with randoms given the multiple ways there are to grief crafter NPC’s that go walkies.
The UE5 upgrade looks great visually and the new UI is a big improvement, but official server performance is currently very rough — especially on LATAM servers.
The biggest suspects for the lag seem to be:
Living Settlements being enabled again (thralls constantly moving/pathfinding around bases)
Shared inventory between containers and crafting stations
Both systems are good ideas, but right now server stability and playability should probably take priority over QoL features.
Even the new LATAM servers (1979/1980) are experiencing heavy lag and rubberbanding, so this doesn’t seem to be related only to old overloaded servers.
Would be worth temporarily disabling those systems to test server performance improvements.
Agree 100%, we need to be in-game to build anything so that should be priority over this.
I would say that the lag that people keep reporting is simply a server performance issue…
I had 20-30ms ping to this server this morning, when there were only couple players online.
Now, with 35 players, the ping is 486 and I cannot join the server due to the ping threshold…
Seems to me that Funcom has to bring out the wallet for more servers.
Conan has always been a game where more players than 20 brings out lag… even though server maximum is 40.
The UE5 update was presented as a big evolution, but in reality it became a huge headache for many players and server owners. What was supposed to improve the game ended up breaking servers, causing instability, compatibility problems, and leaving many people unable to play for days.
Honestly, it would have been much better to focus first on fixing old bugs, performance problems, and optimization issues from the previous version instead of releasing a visual update that, for many players, feels more like makeup than real improvement. A game does not survive only because of graphics — it survives because of stability, performance, and respect for the community’s time and money.
The most frustrating part is seeing these changes forced on players and server owners without any choice. Mandatory updates that break everything make the community feel like live testers.
My advice to the Funcom team: stop destroying what still works. Create new things, improve the game, but do not ruin the experience for the people who supported this project for years. Losing players is much easier than winning them back.
And honestly, the company needs more competent leadership to understand that visuals mean nothing when the core of the game is still full of problems.
100% agree on this, living settlements are a great idea, but even if there arent any lag, it is more an annoyance than it gives us anything, you have to heavily limit them from walking around (which i think was the whole point of it) they look like they are in combat so you have to replace them, and they cant figure out to switch places with eachother as can be seen in the screenshot, and then there is the rubberbanding, its so crazy inside a base, that you sometimes have to run up the same stairs 10 times to end up where you want, i think most people would like it to be disabled.
Well, Funcom managed to persuade me to reinstall this after like 3 years. Runs nice and looks good. Not a huge fan of how the interstitial animations for being in deeper water but not deep enough for swimming seem to have vanished. There’s some other issues I saw but they’re all relatively minor.
Guess I’ll just get started with patiently awaiting multigun’s mods and IQoL to update (while I do depend on LBPR for my building, it’s nowhere near as essential to me as his javelin overhaul).
please fix ping issue.. i am not able to play this game
I can’t join servers because the ping is to high. its not my ping its the servers ping. The server ping is randomly, sometimes appear 99999. The game quality update, but the know bugs not solved.
Wait? Are you telling me there is no Baywatch slow-mo running anymore through waist-high water?
If you mean ‘was it like this before the update to UE5?’ then no. But if you mean ‘is this happening to other people as well?’ then yes, I’ve seen several people report it. Probably the only reason I didn’t see it happen was because I picked a hairstyle that covered one ear, so wouldn’t have noticed.
Worth reporting to Helpshift.
The server list will not save my favorites either. And my attunements are gone too. I have already reattuned 3.
“The installed version of the NVIDIA graphics driver has known issues in D3D12.
Please install the recommended driver version or switch to a different rendering API.” And this is what I’ve been getting as as I start up.
So after the hotfix the server Ive been playing on is favorited and jumps to the top of the list
BUT there is still no way to filter the list per favorites and/or characters?
