I think I mentioned above, I don’t always agree with the changes the Devs make.
For one thing, I learn a bit slower than most, and - I guess you are going to make me admit this publicly - but,
I seriously suck at combat in this game. So, when I learn something, like a weapon and how to use it, then they alter how that weapon works.
I lose my mind because now I have re-learn it or something new.
I also mentioned above that the Devs have limitations they have to work with.
Engine limitations - all game engines have limitations. Add something here or add too much of something there, and the subsystems of the engine, begin to break down.
Lore limitations - Look at Magic in the game. When magic was mentioned, my first thought was oh nice.
We’re going to be able to shoot lightning bolts from our finger tips.
We were given Sorcery. A type of magic I knew nothing about. But when you look at Conan Lore,
you realize that Sorcery is the only form of magic they can really add to fit into “Lore Limitations”.
Map size is another limitation they have to deal with. So once they reached the maximum map size, if they continue to expand the map,
engine subsystems begin to break down. Usually the first one to show signs is the Physics engine.
Could the Devs program a NPC to shoot Lightning from his fingertips or fire bolts from his ass. Of course they could, but does it fit Conan Lore.
So my point is, the Devs have been given the task of finding a way to place new content into a game that has many limitations.
The Devs continue to try to give us new content, to keep us exploring and finding new things, even if they have to change something we liked, to get the job done.
I read from another Dev team, that one day of releasing a game or update to your players is equivalent to several months of in-house testing.
So why does an update get released and a bug shows up? Some one tried something that the Dev team didn’t think of…
shame on you Devs, you’re supposed to be “God-like” in that you predict what everyone is going to do in game…
Conan Exile Devs, have done more in 7 years to keep this game fresh by adding new content, than most Devs do in the design of a new game.
Everyone’s opinion is valid, I will never try to discount anyone’s opinion, and if I ever do, please call me on it.
My opinion is, The Conan Exiles Dev Team, has earned the Labor of Love award.
If you are currently playing Conan, or thinking of coming back, please nominate them on Steam.
It benefits us all.
