I’ve been playing around with the Convergence Trap and I really like the ability to trigger a Purge when I want. Being able to draw a Purge to the base that you trigger the trap at is even better as it gives players more agency over that game mechanic.
There are a couple of things that seem a little out of place with it though:
-only 4 types of Purge on Siptah so far; Stygian Mercs, Harpies, Dogs of the Desert & Relic Hunters. Where are the demon hordes or devolved Elder races coming to destroy my base?
-triggering a Purge takes 200 Unstable ???. Farming up this many Unstable ??? is a pain even for a clan.
-I really liked being able to use the Convergence Trap to summon resources that weren’t normally available on Siptah. With the ability to travel between Siptah and Exiled Lands I would have thought being able to get certain materials on Siptah would be even more important.
Suggestions:
-add more Purge types!
-Have a mechanic to break Greater and Shining ???s down into smaller types or have the convergence trap convert ???s into Swirling Chaos like the Shrines and you need 200/400 Swirling Chaos to trigger the Trap.
-I’d really like to see more player agency over the Maelstrom. What if players could trigger a Maelstrom (or at least accelerate when it starts) via a Convergence Trap? Get it to require a heap of fuel in the form of demonic materials (brimstone/ash/demon blood/???/etc) and require it to be in the storm’s area but it would let players really start to play with the features of the island. Would make hunting demons in the Maelstrom more meaningful.
-Should the traps be upgradable like shrines? Basic one lets you cancel a Purge, higher level traps give you more functionality and control over the islands features.
-Could Convergence Traps be used to protect a base from Maelstrom damage? Have it act like the lightning rod that it looks like for a period of time?
Just my thoughts and I’d be interested in what others come up with.
