We have means to heat a room efficiently (hearth fireplace).
Yet we have no way to chill a room efficiently.
Might I suggest a ‘chilling furniture’; Orb of Ymir’s Breath. Which chillls by 2c the immediate area and 1c in the adjacent area extending out 3 square foundation blocks.
So the 2c area would be if you placed a hanging brazier in the center of a square ceiling tile, that piece and the adjacent pieces would be in the ‘2c area’. The area outside that, for 2 square foundation blocks, would be ‘1c area’.
Sure it’s not really needed these days with the revamp of how Shelters work. But it makes for a nice ambience.
…and you, Funcom, could always sell more elaborate versions of ‘chilling pieces’ on the Bazaar.
If anyone’s played Valheim before, then picture the Dragon Tear when placed on a horizontal mounting stand; the fog it emits. That’s how I would represent the Orb of Ymir’s Breath.
Note: Yes, I know glowing goo sticks. …my house can be seen from orbit from all those sticks. But at least it’s 17C instead of 31C!
I’d be content if they just took a hanging brazier and changed the flame color to that of Witchfire’s and applied whatever code they have on the goo torches to lower ambient temperature. But at a greater degree (pun intended).
Once upon a time, I saw a video on YouTube in which the author made freezing traps for besieging enemies. He put up a lot of Glowing Standing Torches that gave cold. IDK when this changed.
in the past glowing torchs (made with the glowing plant i forgot the name) was used to reduce the temperature. They was used as chilling traps placing a lot of them on a small room was capable to procude a harming cold. Dont remember if it was chanced
The torch placeables made with the Glowing Goo lower temperature. Each torch appears to drop the immediate area by up to 2C per torch.
However, because the game lacks Crispy Lights mod, you’re entire house lights up like a small city. Just to achieve a comfortable temperature. Unless you go around and ‘turn off’ the torches every time the server restarts - hurray playing on an Official server .
But I’d much rather have a furniture piece that dedicated to cooling the area.
I don’t own the pirate preservation box , but it looks like an open barel full of ice . If anyone has it it would be cool to let us know if it works as an area cooler also
