Corpse recovery scenario unreasonable

This has happened twice for me. I don’t die a lot. It seems to me that you should be able to use your portal network and summons corpse to stay in the fight but… Given that, I try not to have portals everywhere, I have five: center, north, south, east, and west. I try to be a reasonable player and not have stuff everywhere. Upon death, I have summoned my corpse, waited for this huge amount of tainted corruption to cleanse, and tried to run back to my thrall to get back in the fight but… In the amount of time it takes to get back in those situations my thrall are already returning home. Is it unreasonable to expect to be able to use the portal system in this way?

I’ve yet to actually try using the summon corpse feature, and don’t die too often either. I usually just run back to my corpse the old-fashioned way. But I guess there are certain dungeons that are more difficult to run through than others (in my opinion, the Wine Cellar is one of the more challenging ones to run, especially if you are naked because it is quite dark in places – so if your corpse is at the very final boss location, it might be easiest to just summon corpse and let your thrall return on their own).

I guess the answer depends on where your corpse is… Is it deep inside one of the longer dungeons, where you absolutely want another thrall to tank, and need all kinds of gear to be able to run back? Or is it easy but just a pain in the ass?

What if you die in a pvp fight and the opponent presses Y on your corpse to loot all? Do you still get your loot or its gone? What i wanna know is do you 100% getting your loot back using this feature?

Well… how about a horse then? :horse:

I think you need to clarify what it is you’re actually suggesting / requesting here…

Do you expect the portal to have some temporary floating rock labeled “Take me back to where I died even if I don’t have a portal there”?..

Or… do you just want the follower to stay there longer and not teleport home?

Also a bit offtopic, but this entire scenario can be avoided by picking a lane…
You either stay home… or go back :stuck_out_tongue:

If you go back, then don’t bother with your corpse retrieval… in fact… summon a temporary abyssal mount and I guarantee that you can get back ANYWHERE on the map in time before your mount / thrall teleports home and simply loot your body the old fashioned way.

Alternatively if you choose to not go back, THEN use the summon corpse to recover your gear and simply chill on your porch till your followers teleport home

No, the spell only summons actual existing corpses… it does not “make one up on the fly” so if your corpse has been looted then it will be empty when you summon it… if it has been harvested by a player then the spell will just tell you that you don’t have a corpse to summon when you click on it.

(It prioritizes corpses that have loot in them, if it cannot find any, then it’ll prioritize the furthest one away)

Congrats, if it was my post i would press the solution button in your reply, well said, all of it, :+1:t6:

I think it is. It would be too easy-cheesy to summon your corpse with all the gear and return into battle at once. You put your bedroll nearby, retrieve your things “by hand” and continue battle OR you return home with all your things and leave your enemy alone.

It is one of the stronger options given by sorcery. Even if you don’t die as often, you can use it in resource collection as well by first collecting stuff and then removing your bracelet, recall corpse to base with all the stuff you collected.

It also means you won’t lose stuff when falling to opponents “trap” bases where you cant climb out.

But the problem described by OT is a minor one imo. I dont really expect devs to change this even if I dont mind if they do. There are bigger issues.

In pve yes, you get all your loot back.
