Could we have Precision Rotation/Adjustment for placeables?

A suggestion here for building; could we have a “precision toggle” for rotating placeables?

Currently when attempting to set down a placeable (be that a work bench, or placeable item), scrolling the mouse scroll wheel will rotate the item. The rotational factor quite often is too much such that it is frustrating to get the item down exactly where you want it to be. This is also true with the other adjustments axis for rotating items (ie. up/down, pitch, yaw/roll, etc.) I find myself trying to back up… move forward while changing my view slightly… back up slightly again on an angle… move forward… etc., etc., etc. in an effort to get the placeable down in the position I want.

I would suggest a new key bind button (that can be set by the player in the game menu) that, when pressed and held down, would apply a precision factor to the amount that a placeable item is rotated. I’d suggest 1/8 of a single mouse wheel move. So if you press this new key bind and then scroll the mouse wheel, the item would rotate 1/8 of the amount it would without the key button pressed.

I feel this would REALLY help to get that perfect, OCD alignment that some of us builders strive for. And having it a toggle key would make it easy to use the rotation factor that exists in-game today, and then apply a precision when making the final touches. This could be applied to all the rotation axis I mentioned above … even to building pieces if you like. (for example, when placing down that first Foundation piece)

Have you tried using the keyboard? You can map these controls to keyboard, too.

I use the mouse and also a controller, the mouse is ok the key board for me dont work with precision, so i use the controller stick to move left reight when i need precision.

No I haven’t - thanks for the info on that, I hadn’t realized keys can also be used!

I will try this however I’m betting that even if I map the rotate left/right to keyboard arrow keys left/right, the amount that each keypress rotates will still be the same amount that is rotated by the mouse scroll wheel… usually too much of a rotation for precision.
