Crafting Bases to Improve Server Performance

Greetings, Exiles!

I love Thralls running around the base. It’s something I’ve wanted for years! I will give Funcom the time to improve it.

That being said, I feel the need to start building “crafting bases”, far away from each other, so that Thralls and items in coffers won’t affect server performance. I play PvE on official servers (PlayStation).

Have you done anything like it and do you have any recommendations?

I am thinking in, at least, 5 small bases (with Transportory Stones on each one):

  • Base #1
    Biome Snow
    Torturer’s Worktable Taskmaster
    Wheel of Pain Taskmaster
    Thaumaturgy Bench Sorcerer
    Guardian Assembly Station None
    Golem Workbench None

  • Base #2
    Biome Volcano
    Blacksmith’s Bench Blacksmith
    Casting Table Blacksmith
    Furnace Smelter
    Tinker’s Bench Blacksmith

  • Base #3
    Biome River
    Saddler’s Worktable Armorer
    Stables None
    Animal Pen None

  • Base #4
    Biome Highlands
    Tanner Table Tanner
    Tannery Tanner
    Artisan Table Tanner
    Carpenter’s Bench Carpenter
    Armorer’s Bench Armorer

  • Base #5
    Biome Jungle
    Alchemist’s Bench Alchemist
    Dyer’s Bench Alchemist
    Firebowl Cauldron Alchemist

Oh wait, were you serious?

That isn’t how it works. Not sure why people think place makes a difference on server lag, or breaking your builds up to a lot of smaller builds.

Your foot print on the server is cumulative. So it doesn’t matter where you build, or how small, building blocks are total.

But what you describe is not uncommon, there is no limit to how many bases you can build. I usually have a main and 3 or 4 satellites/drop base/transtone, smallish bases that usually only have a transporter, stove, and some storage.

Distance does matter to an extent though. If no one is rendering the mega base it will mostly be forgotten.

Think about how you know when someone is logging in without checking.

Dear OP, I don’t belive this will improve server performance, but it will surely worsen your game experience. Imagine teleporting from base to base, just to visit certain workbench. Plus you will have to split your resources between those workstations.
As a matter of fact, after some consideration I do think it will affect server, since tp rooms are (in my opinion) quite server consuming.

What’s with all the tanners? 1 tanner provides coverage for all benches within reach and forces said tanner to move around. Unless you want a bustling an crowded base, you don’t need more than one tanner, cook, smelter, or alchemist as these don’t have specializations.

Thank you everyone!
I see really good points to consider here.

When I teleport to my main base, with almost no light sources, small buildings, no decoration at all, it already lags too much, and the only thing I can think of is the many Thralls walking around.

It will take me some time to check all bases so that none decays. That’s one point against doing this.

That’s a real concern. Being corrupted, walking with no stamina just because I forgot some materials in another base.

I believe I only have one tanner, yes. I just listed them, but I intend to leave as little of them as possible.

My main concern is that I won’t be able to use placeables or decoration at all if I’m already having lag and disconnection issues. I can’t think on anything else but breaking them into smaller bases.
Maybe try to break them into a smaller number of bases.
