Logged in to server after the latest patch and my character had no inventory and was at my bed spawn instead of where I left him when I logged off last.

Welcome to our community and apologies for the frustration.
It’s possible that your character died while offline. Could you check the event log and see if there’s any mention?
Which Armor / Biome were you in?
I’m asking because Blood and Sand DLC had an issue regarding temperature changes.
It’s possible you froze or had heatstroke while wearing the armor after the patch went live.
Just a guess. I had the same happen but lucky me “keeps items on death” PVE 
Is there a way to get your gear back since I died off line in the Blood and Sand Armor. It is extremely frustrating to log on and have no inventory. If it was common legendary things it is no big deal.
Bear armor was for hot climate but now for cold, was in the desert but logged off so I shouldn’t have died. But who knows
Since it changed to cold resist in the desert. You probably heatstroked due to the new insulative properties of the armor which were unintended.
This is why mixing temperature resistances in your armor sets is crucial.

what resources do you use for reference or what are the targets for balance? I would love to have wear anywhere armor set!
Basically you balance the temperature resistance to be 0 to +1.
So if you use 2 pieces with double heat protect you balance it with 2 pieces of double cold protect then either use a non temp protect 5th piece or a single cold or heat protect. Balancing the higher temp protect pieces works even better.
If you travel to the Volcano or the Tundra use a shield to counter the balance in your favor.
