Bug Description:

It is not possible to turn the debug HUD on anymore. This is a very important tool for players to monitor their ping and FPS in game, especially on official servers where ping and FPS are notoriously unstable.

Bug Reproduction:

Type toggledebughud into the ~ menu and it no longer works unless you are registered as Admin

Can confirm. Noticed this on test, asked if that was the way it was supposed to be?
And you can guess how that went.

Yep, nothing works in the ~ command window anymore on any official server I’ve been to  hard to know now whether what I’m seeing is people lagging or people exploiting/hacking… not to mention never knowing how our FPS is looking for the server. Really hope they fix it soon

And if this is intentional it’s not in the patchnotes and we have not been informed.

This needs to be addressed and I hope they either fix it or give us an alternative that allows us to monitor the ping and the server FPS.

That said, I have a partial workaround: go into a single-player game first, make yourself and admin, turn on the debug HUD, and then go online. The debug HUD will stay – in fact, you won’t be able to turn it off unless you’re an admin – but it still won’t display the server FPS. It will, however, display the ping and a few other stats I never really cared about.

This is the second bug report regarding this where it has been moved to the Feedback category.

@Community what is happening??

Yeah I am wondering the same… as an admin of an RP PVP server, I use it to monitor population and event attendence primarily, so this was a very important functionality for me.

Thats how they fix bugs quickly.
Its not a bug anymore, just players feedback.

So should we assume that this was an intentional change and they just didn’t care enough to tell anyone or mention it in any updates/patch notes? If so, why? The information is nothing but helpful to us; if anything, I’d hope they would be making this easier for newer players to access/use rather than taking it away without a word. Really hope this is a misunderstanding, and it’ll be back to normal soon :frowning:

I feel like the DebugHUD’s removal was a consequence of one of their fixes and will not be coming back. Has anyone considered that making all console commands require admin access might’ve been necessary to prevent or fix a particularly nasty exploit/hack?

@phoenixcommand, you should still be able to run it on your private server as long as you’re logged in as admin.

If it was that, it is fine, but as it stands now we have not been informed via patch notes that this was intentional or recieved communication after.

This is currently still a bug report because it is a function that many use and is gone.

Us assuming, wondering and all that jazz is not fact.

A moderator moving it to Feedback instead of bug report is saying a lot but it can be a mistake as some of the verbiage is feedback, that is not the main point of this bug report submission.

But that is just the thing, it is nonfunctional even in admin. I would understand if it had to be admin only, but admin mode does not work either. Hoping we hear back soon and they can fix this.

What the… they could at least post a short reply, something like “Not a bug, changed on purpose, feeling cute, might add it to patch notes later.”

Maybe. Who knows. It’s not like they, you know, communicate about it. I don’t know if I can tell other players to “report bugs properly instead of complaining” anymore.

It is? I don’t have a server of my own, so I couldn’t test that. What’s wrong with it? Doesn’t show server FPS either?

Just ping.

Well, that sucks. I thought it would show the server FPS if you’re admin. This sounds like they didn’t just restrict the sending of the debug data. It sounds like they might have removed it from the non-debug builds of the game.

I’m just speculating, though.

Greetings Exiles,

The command “ToggleDebugHUD” is currently present for admins only, however
we would be happy to hear what specific information you would find useful to have access to!

We’ll also share your feedback with the developers.

Thank you in advance!

Player count, server FPS and ping is what people want.

Now a counter question. Why was it removed?

map positions for TOS reports?

I like a HUD with the server info, ping, people, server fps. Just to verify if it’s me :flushed:

Ping
AI
Placeables
Buildings
Player count
FPS
Coordinates on map

Basically what it used to be.

At a minimum, yes. Placeables and AI count seems to have been useful for many as well.
