I have been trying to use defend here since they took away the stay command, but my follower zaps to me anyway once I get out of sight. Is there an equivalent stay command for followers with Chapter IV? thanks

I’ve lost a couple thralls because of this. It’s like they are still tethered at max follow distance.

No.

why are you all saying no? Are you able to get your thralls to stay put. If so what are you doing?

Flee doesn’t work either.
These new thrall commands are all trash.

No, not able to get my thralls to hang out in a particular place while still following. Stay was one of my most used commands; wanted my horse when riding around, but did not want my horse up in the way so I would typically have him ā€œstayā€ a little ways back.

Did not use ā€œstop followingā€ or ā€œguard hereā€ because I didn’t want to be left or forget to set him back to guard once I got back to my base. This is particularly important when doing The Black Keep. The hallways are very narrow and a horse is very quick to block you and there’s not a place reasonably close to set to guard outside anyway. So I usually had the horse ā€œstayā€ in the entrance.

Now, I struggle without stay. Had an event on the server I’m playing on the other night (whichever event it is with the darkness that summons a blood-moon beast) over right past the Bridge of the Betrayer. I attempted to use flee; not helpful.
I managed to run off (I was playing with someone else who had the attention of the boss momentarily) and tell my horse to stop following at the edge of the frozen lake down the hill. Ran back up to where the fight was, resigned to the fact that my horse would not get xp but at least wouldn’t die, and nope, boss decides to beeline away from both me and my partner fighting it, plus his thrall, to go engage my horse. Who is now not following and can’t be given commands.

Bring back the stop command.

And bring back the stay command. Don’t change what worked.

I think stop/stay are the same, no?

It used to be move, stop/stay, return. Now it’s move, return, flee.

you would think that, I did at first.

But ā€œstayā€ doesn’t work like ā€œstopā€ did.

The idea was that the follower would defend itself rather than stand there and be killed.

But the reality is the follower does not ā€œstayā€ I’ve lost a Cimmerian Berserker because it didn’t stay,
and ran in and was overwhelmed.

And I’ve missed out on several named crafters, because my follower attacked and killed them, when it should have ā€œstayedā€ back where I told it to stay.

As I stated in another thread:

New commands for followers are useless.

ā€œHoldā€ is there only for the thralls to teleport to you in the worst moment possible without you asking for it, not to mention he won’t defend himself while holding there.

ā€œFleeā€ will never work, because of being frequently surrounded by enemies and staggered to death.

ā€œReturnā€ efectivity, as follower should respawn near your character works about 1:1.

I didn’t even bother with ā€œStopā€ command, as I suspect it will be the same effective as the rest of commands.

It should have froze your toon for awhile. That’s close enough.
