Disappointed, Removed Creative Capabilities

Greetings,

Once upon a time, you could overlay different build pieces on top of each other. One could create some very interesting, unique pieces.

I’m going to miss the ability to build like this…. Can you please reverse whatever “fix” broke this creative option?

Oh no…

That’s what I was dreading when I saw fixes in the patch notes.

Really a shame, and a step in the wrong direction.

Are you a Funcom Rep?

Greetings. First, I want to say thank you for whatever part you play in keeping this game going. I greatly appreciate it. I understand that this goes a bit beyond the bound of what you’ve designed. I would like to ask if it brought you, as a member of the Conan team, some joy or excitement that players found new ways and innovations to create structures not originally intended. You could probably even compare it to the real world in the sense that as time passes, we find new ways to build. Anyways, this is just me sticking my heart to a forum, asking you to please reconsider that creative option. Thanks for reading…

Unfortunately this has slowly been the trend and it’s caused me to stop playing the game. I otherwise would’ve kept playing pretty consistently, just to build, even though ome of the combat changes and PvP experiences weren’t great. This is admittedly an over-reaction on my part, as there are plenty of cool builds which could still be made, but lots of neat tricks have been broken and it doesn’t seem like there’s much benefit to the increased restrictions. Even simple things have been disabled by build rules getting stricter - I’ve repeatedly beat the drum about gate frames (see screenshots for examples of basic placements that are no longer available).

Hopefully someday someone reverts some of these changes, but so far it seems like requests to make build restrictions a bit closer to how things were before Ages have fallen on deaf ears.

You designed and built art in a sandbox. The same way child would build a sandcastle, you created something that brings you joy. It’s been taken away, in a small part, but it’s still a detail that we won’t get back. I guess I’m saying, stay fighting for the build.

In fairness I probably could find a ‘less build restrictions’ mod, but I really prefer not getting into modding as it removes the possibility of doing a quick campaign in a public server to build something for others to see.

Not the response I was hoping for but thank you.

This pointless question now. But how was that storm glass dungeon window thing made?

I have used a lot of aesir support frame (etc.) → fence → wall, -trick. (seems to be working) But not sure ever two wall piece in same place. (There was a some pieces, yamatai?, that could be put in same slot, but I think it was changed before this year).

But anyway all building restriction without real reason are game breaker for builder :face_with_steam_from_nose:

Has anyone from dev side given any reason why these restriction are made?

(How game handless physics might be one? And there has been no engine level fixes forever.)

Greetings. I went in this order alternating the arrows. Ensuring the StromGlass Window piece was facing out. Here WAS my process:

Stable Fence Pillars > Lost dungeon Grate > Lost Dungeon Door Frame > Storm Glass Window.

Sorry, the info above isn’t the exact names, but that was my process.

I miss it.

I noticed too that the stable fence pillars dont work anymore for the window trick.
But the pieces from the turan, aesir and yamatai Bazar sets still work for me - have you tried those?

No, but it seems to follow from slight adjustments in the hitbox for determining overlaps (for the gate frames). In some cases this might be related to trying to prevent doors from swinging into each other when both are opened, or it might be to prevent stacking in PvP. Other changes have probably arisen from changing rules about what sort of pieces will destroy+replace others when placed on a slot. I can say that Less Building Replacement Restrictions mod can be used to get around all of this, but at the expense of toggling “allow all overlaps” and thus getting a less user-friendly experience in other regards (harder to place things in the right place quickly if they can go literally anywhere!), so these aren’t ‘hardcoded’ changes.

Thank You dear Sir (or M’am)! - without stable pillars trick my architectural plans would be nothing, but I can confirm, that it still works for Turan wall arch. You saved the day (and this game) for me! Wondering when Barden will use this trick if he decide to come back to CE.

Great. I “own“ non of these sets on Xbox and only the Turanian on Playstation. I probably will not buying when one of them comes back to bazaar only to be able to make something what slightly resembles a window. I don’t know why Funcom hates windows so much, there ist not a single set with a decent one…

Pretty sure the bazaar sets will get the same treating like the stable set, they probably just forgot about them…

(yes, Turan wall arch works at the moment, I just checked on Playstation. Note to self: Don’t touch anything on my existing Xbox buildings).

I’m very disappointed how they fixed the exploitative part. Seems no one in the team really cares about the building aspect of the game.
