Dry wood surplus: what do you do with it 🧐?

Dry wood gives you insulated wood. Insulated wood not only is used for tier 3 black ice constructions, but for tier 2 wooden constructions and tier 3 benches. Trust me, even if you have 10k of it it’s not enough!
If you use it for fuel, soon enough you will be creating new in the dryer (1000 bark+ 500 wood=1000 dry wood +500 resin).
So, I would suggest you not to use it for fuel!
Use pickaxe to farm trees and you’ll get too many bark and resin too, so create insulated wood or stone consolidate with fiber and resin!
I use the worst fuel, branches especially on my cooking section, you get sooooo many that at the end you don’t really have a use for them . Even with a named carpenter you can create wood with branches, or dry wood, but I burn them . RP reasons for stove too, it was working with branches not wood .

Go to the silver mine with a bearer or a camel and farm the ground floor. Silver is not the only amount that you’ll get, iron, stones and coal can cover you for a week with a 30 min visit in the ground floor, if you want to go lower, you better have a good thrall with you or your bearer lvl15+. 2 scorpion bosses awaiting down there and one of them is the queen! Yet you gain the queen venom recipe, a legendary weapon, a legendary shield, scorpio babies, spider baddies, silver, Ichor, chitin, demon blood, feral flesh and stones. Silver mine solve fuel and other problems with just a visit, try it .
Beware, the basement is not easy, give attention and respect.
In my first days I lost thralls and gear down there, but it worth it!

But the drier gives you both dry wood and resin, so you’ll always get more dry wood than resin. Insulated wood requires both, so you’ll end up with more dry wood than you can use to make insulated wood.

I always run out of resin long before I’ve managed to burn through all that surplus dry wood I get out of the drier, so I use it as fuel in most of my crafting stations.

Hey Wonka Oil is best used only for crafting weapon upgrades and hardened leather for epic armour. Not sure why you’d dry wood just for the resin - far easier ways to get resin. Are you using a pickaxe on trees? Should get bucket loads of resin doing that, as well as bark.

If you are a farmer maniac, at some point in the game you have so much dry wood that you do not know what to do with it. You simply could build a castle out of dry wood. If you are at that point don´t bother with putting it in chests, just throw it away.

Having 10 chests full of drywood only cuts down performance.

With the Alchemist making oil a million gallons a minute use it for whatever you like. Heck, pour it on the floor and laugh at your friends slipping and sliding trying to get back up.

Do as you wish! Every player chooses what is best for his economy and act for it!
It happened to me in the past to burn, dry wood too, or oil, or whatever I had plenty!
But every time I happen to burn dry wood at the end I was fixing new on the dryer and that’s a fact! I feel more safe to have 10k dry wood stored, or even better 10k insulated planks stored, than 10k shaped wood or 40k wood. The reason is the time! Farming 40k wood (along, bark, branches, resin) is 20 to 30 min, farming 1000 dry wood is almost a day! Unless you have 20 dryers ofcurce.
I burn a lot of branches, bearers drop a lot packs with branches and I don’t keep more than a wooden chest, the rest are burning!
The bottom line is that you can always burn what you have plenty and if this is dry wood then burn, why not!

Lucky me, so far I have used oil for hardened leather.
I still have a couple of thousand coal, and was burning it before I started using the oil, but now I will use the dry wood.
So, the oil is safe .

It took me so long to get all Black Blood tools that it is hard for me to use the pickaxe again .

I hear ya! But I never used a single black blood hatchet, or star metal hatchet, or any hatchet. Star Metal or Eldarium Pickaxe is the GOAT for farming trees. Gives same wood and branches as hatchet but added bonus of bark and resin - you’ll have more resin than you can use in insulated wood AND stone consolidant production. Put… the… hatchet… down… AND STEP AWAY FROM THE TREE!

The point is pickaxe gives resin (and bark) and hatchet doesn’t, so if you’re farming wood with a hatchet and drying it to get resin you’re making hard work of it for yourself. Just use a pickaxe, can then make as much stone consolidant OR insulated wood as you like with less grind. Even if it’s a black blood hatchet, would not use it to farm wood, it’s not efficient unless you only want the wood.

I just died a little inside reading this lol So many alternatives to burn.

Don’t you craft heavy epic armour? Or make weapon upgrades etc?

I mean, once you have a T4 alch and can pump out oil like a Rockefeller maybe if you have a chest full of it you could use it - but I am always scrambling for more oil until I hit that stage, even after I get the named alch I rarely have enough oil for epics.

My old clan leader told me off once for sneaking about 20 oil into a campfire to cook some steaks because I didn’t have any other fuel handy and need to grab the steaks and run.

I forgot to mention that, after a week (literally weekend through weekend) of decimating the Darfari Cannibals population, I got the elusive Mask of the Wicth Doctor!
My “miner build” for farming depends on the Black Blood tools to reach full desired perks , I can not use the pickaxe until I hit 60 and can add extra points to the build.

Not that it matters after tomorrow but the mask of the WD, innkeeper shirt and pants, slight gloves and boots of the serpent mean you can cut your endurance down to 32 and survival down to 20.

A pick, not a pickaxe, used on a tree gives bark and resin but no wood and branches. If you’re farming for bark and resin it’s the best tool from the iron pick to the last tier. Stone pick gives only bark, that’s still useful early in the game before you can craft iron tools.

Take or make some climbing boots and gloves with you…climb the walls, there is a ton of chests full of good loot on the catwalks above.
