I’m super excited and grateful for the Enhanced update, but I have a major concern. I’ve been running a private server for years and have built castles, villages, bridges, fortresses, dungeons, towers, and more on Siptah without a decay timer—essentially years of accumulated world-building. The update states that Siptah constructions cannot be transferred due to the merge with Exiled Lands saves, which is a devastating problem for anyone who has invested in Siptah.
As I understand it, you should still have the option to maintain your existing Siptah private server on the legacy (UE4) version of the game. It wouldn’t get any of the upgrades, would lose the bazaar (still, I believe, keeping purchases already made, but not being able to get more) and wouldn’t get access to any future changes or fixes. But it would, at least in theory, be able to continue existing on the old version of the game. Have a careful read of the blog post/announcment, focusing on what you would be able to do with the old game.
Unfortunately, as I understand it, if you did want to upgrade, then yes, all Siptah constructions would be lost. The Siptah map is being added to the Exiled Lands map in a way that allows characters to directly travel between the two. The problem is that, in order to do this, all the coordinates of the Siptah map are being changed (because as they currently stand they overlap with the coordinates of the Exiled Lands map - so merging them would cause Siptah buildings to appear in weird places in the Exiled Lands). Losing the original Siptah coordinates apparently makes it impossible to maintain existing Siptah buildings - because they would need new coordinates for every single piece.
but how it is not possible to write an automated transfer tool ? changing a world coordinate to another coordinate ? because i think we know the original world coordinate of siptah, and we know where the new coordinate should land ?
You are right. It’s a simple offset that needs to be added to the building piece locations of all building pieces.
They really should provide a merge tool where you can merge EL and Siptah databases into the new enhanced one.
so if i understand well, and guessing well we are in this situation because they have been only able to test conan map transfer, and i guess it was simply a lack of time to test transfer of siptah with an automated tool to meet the deadline of the 5th may. because if there is an other reason that this one, i would be gratefull to know ? and i would simply ask one question : ok someone want rush to relaese the 5th may, but what force you to manage siptah server in this window time ? siptah servers can be managed 2 weeks later or even 2 months later or even 6 months later, when there will enough time to test an automated tool to transfer. i mean normally everybody should be happy by the wonderfull work you did with the update, why manage it in a way to upset some players that are those who trusted you to buy siptah for akready a very long time ?
