By no means did I mean to have this changed. I believe the while topic is about literally falling from point a to point b, the ground. No wall grabs just falling and hitting the ground.
Oh, didnāt mean to imply you or indeed anyone asked for that, it was just an example of something deeply unrealistic that should totally stay the way it is because itās fun
Exactly. The topic posterās main focus is fall damage and the agi perk making it completely unrealistic @Geralt_Gwyinbleidd right?
I would vote for them to remove the cat like altogether. I have fallen off some prettry high cliffs and missed a grab, and survived without it. The only reason i see anyone really using the perk is for the OPās initial complaint of free falling into your base from 200 Founds up.
Maybe move all the perks up 1 knotch, and make it the last one instead. so a 50 rating would be needed to do it.
That or, i know there is a trigger at some point when falling. It starts the sound of you screaming and animation of panic when you fall from too high up. Maybe use a trigger like that as well, to null the perk if too high up when falling?
IF they removed it, they could put an armor buff in its place, as agility is tied to armor rating for some reason. I think it like 2 armor points for every point of agility. maybe give a +50 armor rating at level.
If you max out agility right now, this is what you get no physical armor on at all.
- Total Armor: 100
- Armor From Agility: 100
- Total Damage Reduction: 28%
Perks:
Iron Endurance** . Sprinting drains less stamina.
Cat-like . Falling damage is halved.**
Effortless Leap** . Jumping no longer costs stamina.
Nimble Tumbler** . When dodging, your armor counts as one weight-class lower than normal.
Extended Leap** . Jump while in the air to do a second jump.
maybe remove cat like, and push up no cost jumping. then in # 3 add in the +50 armor.
so the perk would give you this ratng, sans any armor
- Total Armor: 150
- Armor From Agility: 150
- Total Damage Reduction: @38%
Main issue I thought was double jump thou? As you can fall any height, and double jump to save oneself, and land on other-side of wall.
I pve mostly myself, so killing one of few perks i use in solo/pve play seem weirdā¦>_> (half-damage)
The OP was the fall damge reduction exploitation to fall from 200+ foundation high. the Double Jump is part of it, as it extends horizontally the area you cover. But Double jump seem balanced for the amount of points you use to get it.
Maybe move the Cat like to survival then. I feel there are some useless survival ones there. Like the 5th perk. Donāt really know of anyone that uses it on PVP, and kind of useless for PVE.
Maybe move 4th down, and put in cat like there? It is more of a survival skill than agility imo.
This way you would be hard pressed to get both double jump and cat like.
I know there are some people who use the agility build a lot. In my experience, it is far and few between. Sometimes tweaking effects others, but if it balances out exploits/gameplay then i am all for it. I didnāt like the nerf of Silent, as i had some unique builds i used the +3 with that i had become really good with, but i understand why it was nerfed and adjusted.
Survival Perks:
Raw and Bloody** . You do not have to cook raw meat to avoid food poisoning.
Hard Worker** . You harvest resource nodes twice as fast.
Efficient Butchery** . Every animal harvested provides extra resources.
Antidote of One** . Invulnerability to poisons and diseases. Strength of detrimental status effects are reduced by 20%.
_Bronzed Physique . All direct combat damage you take is reduced by 10%._**
i have actually started a poll to see what some of the least favorite perks are. I used the ones i personally could care less about, but left a spot for others and āi like them allā. Just to see if there is no way to change it numbers wise because of coding, could it be switch to a higher level on another stat. Obviously removing it seems a bit harsh, as it has its usefulness in general. Just to easy to exploit for raiding and griefing purposes.
Not surprising. Welcome to the thread! I knew you would pop in at some point. I suggest ( because this is in the suggestions category and not the contradict everyone category) that falling from a distance of 3 foundations high from point a to b causes no damage. 4 to 6 causes crippling damage for a time. 7 to 8 causes crippling after a period of unconsciousness, where anyone can loot you. 9 and up is a spectacular death. Cat like falling could increase the distance. Climbing gear could allow one to grab a wall on the way down. Otherwise you slip and fall and take normal damage. Normal damage because Conan seems to be a pseudo realistic building survival game and not spiderman.
LOL @ people who want to fall 5 feet off a rock and break their leg in game.
I āpopped inā because you called me out by name. So no need to act like youāre being followed.
Sure. But if a suggestion canāt stand up to a little discussion isnāt worth making in the first place. Incidentally, this isnāt even your topic to begin with, so I donāt know where the victim complex comes from.
ā¦ say what? Thereās barely anything in this game that is ārealisticā. Yes thereās a wide spectrum between āspidermanā as you put it and realistic, but Conan Exiles veers towards the extreme, the over-the-top and the comic-style rules in just about everything.
Examples off the top of my head:
You have to eat. But you can easily eat a ton of food without getting fat and/or slow.
You have to drink. But you can drink anything - salt water, brackish jungle water etc without worries
You build your own base. But the system is heavily abstracted, to the point where a regular person can carry around tonnes of stone, or a medium-sized houseās worth of building pieces
You have the innate knowledge (points) of advanced metallurgy, and the engineering to build drawbridges and elevators out of string and wood, but you need to find a recipe to boil tea.
Temperature matters, but you can easily survive in the frozen north with exposed skin (or even naked!)
You hit an enemy with a club, and his head falls off or his torso falls off (!), blood gushing everywhere.
ā¦and really any other feature in the game, itās all heavily caricatured, abstracted and overdone - and the game is generally better for it.
So whereās the ārealismā ? Mind you, Iām not asking for realism. It usually makes for a very boring game.
I like the idea of different tiers of fall damage but your numbers are on a low side. Iāve put in the research your saying a fall of 9 foundations or 54 feet will kill you? Each foundation is somewhere around 6 feet. How about 3 foundations as you suggested with cat like(CL for quicker discussion?) going up to 4-5. 4-8 crippling 15secs to a 1min and a further 9-12 causing a new debuff bone fracture giving half movement speed maybe 30secs to 1min? CL jumps those numbers to 6-12 crippling and respectfully 13-18 fracture. 13-18 same as your unconscious call the debuff concussion 5-30secs CL 19-24. 20 foundations or 120feet is death and CL follows at 25 foundations or 150feet. 150 feet is realistic and 120 feet is still forgiving for non agi players. Sorry itās a little messy Iām walking into a meeting in 5 mins.
never put points in survival myselfā¦
for me, its 10vit 10str, and end till lv3, Agility is later along with acc or str give or take damage I need. XD
Yellow potion, when i no longer need end so high. But never anything in survival. LOL
My estimates are rough guesses, Iāve not tried jumping off anything to test it. Iād guess a 1 story building is around 9 feet tall maybe? 54 feet would then be a 6 story tall building. I would think anyone but Jackie Chan would die from a fall that high. Anyway, itās the gradient of damage that would be neat, especially getting knocked unconscious. Measurements being arbitrary. Now that Its been suggested, the PC will likely get a cool mod improving gameplay, and consols will stick with unrealistic spiderman style.
It has certainly evolved in that direction, at least on consols. The more realistic features, like dying from falling off a few foundation pieces, choosing a single religion, dying from climate exposure, etc have all been reigned in as a result of squeaky wheels getting the oilā¦ I now realise that its the consol crowd and marketing data that are behind these choices. You would think a M-mature title could handle a pseudo realistic Conan world, but I see that it canāt. Consol gamer mindset must still be set in the sensational game environment of games in the past on consols. Itās like the difference between diablo 2 on PC, and Diablo 3 on consol. Oh, and btw, Iāll mention that falling 200 blocks and living is really lame, so that this post doesnāt get pulled for being āoff topicā again, unlike others here for some reasonā¦
I definitely wouldnāt be adverse to a tiered fall damage and of course it would need tweaks. Of course the realism would need to be reeled in a bit because it canāt be a fun killer.
i got banned from the steam forums for bringing up this conversation a few months back. Itās a completely stupid game mechanic. Would be better to just take gods/bubbles out of the game but at this point with only a few hundred players playing world wide who cares, the damage has already been done.
I think you posted in the wrong topic? The discussion is about fall damage and the perk cat like.
Made me chuckle. Iāll try the 5 star like again and see if i get flagged again
