After your nice update the game doesn’t start. Getting Fatal error during into : Fatal error! Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000088 !0x0000000000000000

I had the exact same problem. You just need to verify your steam files, it fixed it for me.

After second complete delete and re-install, verified files, and sifting through endless forum posts I still get the fatal error after joining server. Is there any hope of playing this again or did 3.0 kill me for good?

for me it helped removing modlist.txt even after reinstall it was still there

The same with me. I verified all Steam files, unsubscribed from all mods, and deleted all mod files, and it still crashes after the intro movies.
